Simple vintage univega question....
I am the owner of an Univega Competizione 1982. I don't know the exact size, but it's somewhere in the 54/56 neighborhood, I think.
Was this frame built for 27" wheels???
Bonus (because I'm at work and lazy): Are 27" wheels larger in diameter than 700c wheels?
Thanks for reading.

My mid 80s Competizione was definitely built for 700c wheels. And 27" is 630mm diameter while 700c is 622mm.

Thanks Neal, I've not realy found any difinitive evidence to the contrary, either. I think the wheels that were in installed when it came into my possession are 700c, but for whatever reason, I can't find markings anywhere on them that confirm that to be the case.
In any event, a little extra clearance couldn't hurt.
Cheers.

I can't recall ever seeing a 27" Competizione. Given the level and era, 700C would be correct. Competing models were using them, so I doubt Lawee would have dropped the (spec) ball on that one.
