80's Novelty Saddle Covers
Through the late 70's and into the 80's you could find them in about every shop...different designs and colors, I think the last one I had was an blue and white star motif, anyone know of a source for these currently? I haven't been able to locate anything like this.
Thanks, Sandy

Bikes: 1986 Alan Record Carbonio, 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7, 1984 Peugeot PSV, 1972 Line Seeker, 1986(est.) Medici Aerodynamic (Project), 1985(est.) Peugeot PY10FC
I've been looking for saddle covers too! I remember having covers with the saddle brand names on them, back in the 80's, made of lycra with a very thin rubbery vinyl material coating (that's makes it waterproof) on it that had the saddle brand name like "San Marco" or "Selle Italia" imprinted on it. Like you said, they were all over the place in almost all bike shops with all kinds of designs to choose from. Now they seem to be as rare as hen's teeth!. I would like to find a white San Marco labled cover again to protect my new Concor Supercorsa saddle on my recently ressurected PSV. Anyone know where to find them these days?? I have not found any present equivalent so far.

I have not seen any logo covers in a while
Niagra has some plain ones. https://www.niagaracycle.com/index.php?cPath=280
Velo Orange sells the water proof Ardvark. It has done an excelent job keeping my Brooks dry.

No clue about other saddle covers, though.

WHAT!!! a seat cover? you expect me to put all that extra weight on my unobtainicarboluminum bike, with super extra light carbon fiber everything? why if I put the 2gram seat cover on my bike will be over weight!

I picked up a NOS Selle Italia Turbo seat cover at the LBS a while back. It's bright neon yellow!

Anyone know of a good one for my Brook's B-66? Currently I park it with a triple-folded garbage-bag with red elastics holding it in place. Gives the bike that First-Glance = Slob! look.

Two companies coming to mind that made them were Flite and Califonia Lite...maybe the same company? I remember having a black & yellow checkerboard one like thie one found here:
https://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-80s-black-ye...d=p3286.c0.m14
It ruled.
Uni made them as well but from what I recall, they only fit Uni seats.

I had a couple of fluorescent green and orange ones from the 80s, by Avocet I believe. We worn out the green on a kids bike long ago, then more recently I put the orange on my son's cruiser for high school as a lark. Someone ripped it off the first day - I've hardly ever seen him so mad.
Hard to predict what becomes "cool."
Oh yeah, after that, we went into a hi-end bike shop asking for them. The mechanic said he had a whole box that he threw away during mechanic's school.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.
Besides, it would cover up the manufacturer's logo! What's the point of a bike part without a huge logo, anyway?

Last time I went through town, they still had some at Orville Cycle & Fitness, Orville, OH.
I bought 2, both celeste and white, if I remember they had a decent sized box full, pinks, blues, yellows.
They probably still have them and they fit a Rolls and Concour Lite fine.
It's a nice shop.
Good luck.
