Sachs Huret odometer

Sachs Huret odometer
Do any of you folks mess with the "vintage" stuff like old style odometers and such?
I picked up a too tall Raleigh Olympian that has one of the old belt drive odometers on it. A Sachs Huret model with about 2,000 miles showing on it (or maybe it is about 200.0? I'll have to look again.) I kind of like it but I'd have to find an o-ring or replacement belt for it and swap on a washer in place of the mounting arm on the axle. Or maybe I'll just leave it on the bike, I don't know.
Or maybe I'll mount it on a unicycle and relearn what little I knew about uni riding from decades ago.
What do you all do with accessories like these things? Use them? Trash bin them? Throw them in a bucket in the shed? Shadow box display on the living room wall?
Maybe I'll post a pic if I fire up the computer, phone don't work for pics.

I keep those little bits and pieces around on my shelf or give them away as long as they work. I have a semi-crummy odometer on my commuter at the moment. Those Huret odometers are supposed to be nice since they are silent, I think they were supposedly more accurate too. If you decide to ditch it I would be interested in trying to come up with a trade.

I still have one of these on my Holdworth 15 speed touring road bike. Has been through thick and thin with me. Works fine and I have no intention of removing it. Sound mechanical device - don't have to worry about finding spare batteries for it !

those were very cool. there is a NOS on ebay in france for $40 I would think perhaps you could get a o ring at a good hardware or plumbing store

+1 on finding the o-ring/belt at the hardware store. I have those on more than one of my bikes. I like 'em cuz they don't need batteries and I don't need accuracy to .01 meter. I just retired one that had been in a car-bike wreck with me a couple years ago and started being a bit generous. Still made over 6000 miles before going nuts and only cost me a couple of bucks. I think I have 3 or 4 heads on the shelf for back up.
