I wish I could find C&V bikes like these in the wild. Too bad I live in Nashville so the only bikes I see are rusted Roadmasters ridden by homeless people.

I could never see myself leaving my Gran Sport locked up on the sidewalk.
Living in the Portland Or area I'm often amazed at the bikes I see locked up out in the rain in the city - often multi thousand dollar rides. |
Parking lot of Universal Cycles in Portland last week

Forget the bike, that's a nice BMW 2002 :thumb:

^ That looks like Aaron's (of Aaron's Bike Repair, formerly in West Seattle) :)

Yes it is.
He's in Rat City now. I had just noticed the frames he used to build it. The bike has own FB page, rat city tall bike. |
This department store bike made me chuckle, what with its Rossin-esque "R" on the seat tube and copycat Peugeot decals all around.

With the UCI Worlds in town this week there are so many nice bikes around you just can't stand it. However, if you stop for a moment a few will reveal themselves to you.
Nice touring Cannondale. I saw a 25" red one also. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=479496 Some guy parked his sparkling emerald green Paramount as I was unlocking my bike after touring the displays at the Richmond Convention Center. I asked if he planned to take the front wheel with him and he said he was not worried with all the high-end carbon bikes locked up in the vicinity. I mentioned you could just go out and buy one of those, but that old Paramounts (and Campy stuff) are a bit different. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=479497 And just to make you groan, a nice old PX10 converted to coaster brake and with the derailleur hanger sawed off. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=479498 |
A chained Schwinn and a bottle of Amsterdam vodka

Walking thru the local campus, I spotted a smallish Gios Torino chained to a bike rack.

I apologize for the crappy picture but the bike was important to me. We were in our hotel on the last evening of a weeklong Hawaiian vacation (Big Island) and had seen only beach cruisers, mountain bikes and tri-bikes. Lots of tri-bikes, seriously. Suddenly, the elevator doors pop open and there's a guy at the back with a scratched and scuffed Motobecane with Vitus stickers on fork and frame. Grand Touring? Anyway, this is the pic I got. He said that the bike was as old as he was.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=481065 During the same week I also saw this, which I found amusing and kind of helped me get through the week. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=481068 |

How common (or not) is a sighting like this? I half expect all Dutch bikes to be, well, Dutch :)
I saw this Viner in Italy. But even for Italian city bike standards it was exceptionally nice. |
It's not much to look at (though maybe that's the point), but this would appear to be an excellent commuter.
