Saw this at Bathurst 1000 V8 race couple of weeks ago . For other forum users not familiar with Bathurst race . 207,000 in one spot for a 61 lap rev fest raced on a road circuit up and down a reasonable sized hill ( google Mount Panorama )
Anyway I digress . This bike was leaning up against a tree amongst the crowd . http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=484160 |

No picture, but I got on the wheel of a couple yesterday - they were on a fillet-brazed Libertas tandem, cottered cranks, 5 speed fw, both of them wearing sneakers and tapping out a 25 mph tempo into a headwind. They didn't seem to know an awful lot about the bike; the captain just said it was "really old steel" and thought it was lower grade than Reynolds.
Fun stuff; most of the riders I see are on CF or the occasional Waterford. |

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5722/...bff9f5fc_b.jpg Zunow (seen on the street) by djk762, on Flickr I have seen the occasional Zunow here in Sendai. Quite surprising, since Sendai is the rectum of the OECD planet for great old vintage machines. About two years ago, I passed a rider on the levee ... and then dropped back because I thought I had spotted a spectacular bike. I then began to chat with the rider — an older dude (like me) about his Zunow. He was a ... er ... a quiet rider. In no hurry, possibly commuting. (On the other hand, I was on my way to try and defeat hyper-tension.) He was quite surprised that anyone knew what his bike really was. I could tell that he knew. The bike was well in years, and I suspected that it had been a feature much earlier in his life. It was marked by what we enthusiasts refer to as "patina". But it was no clunker — the well-used look, lubricated and cared for. I tried to explain how much I envied his bike. If I had one of these bikes, I'd never again be envious of the big name Italians that I have not been able to afford — as much as I respect them, and as much as I would love to own one. What a gorgeous machine! |

Well it doesn't belong to me or anyone I know, but I'd guess Vittoria Rubinos, perhaps.

My WAG is it's a "Condcorde" but don't hold me to it. Something about it has a Concorde-y vibe... Get some extreme closueups of the head lugs, seat cluster, fork ends, brake bridge, fork crown, dropouts (with wheels removed) the underside of the bottom bracket, any markings on the unpainted portion of the steerer tube and also any serial numbers found on the frame and one of our C&V sleuths will surely smoke out the truth. :P

The Concorde with celesta bar tape, or the hybrid behind it?
|
Nice Mavic tire/wheel combo on the Concorde. Stickers lined up as instructed.

1976 (probably) Centurion that I see around town a lot. This one gets used, not babied :thumb:

Looking at the size of those locks, they might cost as much as the bikes.
And what with that Concorde's *2016* $1200 wheelset, the rear wheel left unlocked(!!) for the local drug addicts to cash in on. Ok, it's been quite a while since I lived in a big city or college town, but when I lock up a bike and walk away, it's gotta be an $80 or less thrift-store model. |
Check out this beast.

Went to a nursery/garden center on Monday and saw an old Western Flyer being used in a display, a 20" juvie bike rusting away, semi-pneumatic tires, unremarkable except for a crank I'd never seen before. This must have been an old juvie bike.

This was sitting against the wall of the building I work in. A Gazelle tandem with a rather interesting drive train. Now, who would ride a tandem to work?
