This was sitting against the wall of the building I work in. A Gazelle tandem with a rather interesting drive train. Now, who would ride a tandem to work?

Could it be a parent or spouse who lets the rear passenger off at their workplace or school before continuing on to his/her final destination?
Edit: ah, took a while for the coin to drop. Could have been the other way around. Yes, maybe. If it appears again and I catch the owner, I'll ask. :) |

velofinds That must be some tall rider.

I have seen a tandem being used as a solo bike on my commute to work. I can't quite wrap my head around that. Turning radius is a PITA on a MUP.

Pretty sure this bike is the ride of a local "flowers and glow sticks" lady. Doing what a good U0-8 is supposed to do, providing a long lasting comfortable ride, for little monies and with a lot of class. |
Your link no worky.

Seen in front of an architectural salvage place in Ithaca NY as permanent display. The bike is unremarkable but the hack, the framework of it at least, appears to be a production aftermarket setup with a chair made from expanded metal. And check out the finger joint on that wooden tubular rim!

Original Moots?
Downtown Halifax, lookin all cool. Love this bike. Note the clamp on brake mounts...convert to 650B in 5 minutes tops. Curved seat stays, fork rake. I think it's an 84. Wow.

Sick Moots!!!

clubman that is awesome. Some cool details. Check out that front brake cable going into the stem binder bolt.

Moots was on the ground floor of the 650B resurgence. They had bikes set up that way back in the early '90s and had other interesting features.

Unfortunately, the last time I saw this bike it looked like somebody ran it into a brick wall. Totally wrecked. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2349/...b3b362d8_o.jpg Some terrible Huffy. |
Locked up next to this Mercian today. Pump peg, low rider fork mounts, internal cable routing, and those classy lugs. Paint's had some rather rough touch ups and it would be neat to see it dressed up classic-vintage like, but it was cool to run into one. At the risk of looking like a possible theif, I took a few hasty photos in the rain:

Almost in the wild. This 1943 Schwinn Paramount track bike was at a local club meeting in Edwardsville today;

This is no beauty and not even very rare or desirable a frame, but it demonstrates what a little ingenuity can accomplish. I went to the co-op on a mission and noticed a long bike hung over the rack when I was parking. I assumed it was a cycle truck or tandem drafted into utility service. On closer examination I saw it was a standard Specialized frame, probably a Hard Rock, with the entire rear swingarm from some full suspension bike bolted to the rear dropouts to extend the wheelbase. Additional bracing, using the red frame's rear derailleur to take up chain slack; pretty damn clever (and cheap!), I thought, if it works for the guy. Bolt up your milk crate and you're ready to haul.

Came across these on my local MUP the morning following our first snowfall of the season. Can anyone identify?

You know I was just being facetious, right? Hope someone can actually identify them for you.
