I saw this many years ago when I was repping and this was in the parking lot of one of my dealers. The guy was riding the Moab and towing that trailer, the one with the second bike mounted on top. And take a look at the bars on the Moab. Count the barends.

Super high end, spotted unlocked (!) in front of the donut shop next to my place of business:
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4285/...d8f84c0e_h.jpgDavidson Of course I waited around for the owner to pop out, a guy about 60 years young, filled me in on his 1983 Davidson. Shiny alloy Phil hubs, very cool brand new IRD triple NR look-alike crank, Gran Compe brakes, original paint. Invited him our Ridge ride this weekend, but sounds like he has other plans. :( Then on the way home from work, stopping by the library, spotted an almost as blue but decidedly low-end mid '70s Pug, UE8, maybe? Another big bike, which made me want to take it for a spin of course. But didn't see the owner. Of course I would have teased him about his barftape. :o And offered to install and FD from my big box o' junk. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4010/...4bd2ee02_h.jpgUE8maybe |
Out of town gal riding a small wheeled Slingshot. She was 90 lbs dripping wet and she loves it. Single speed, half-a-steel frame and 471 mm wheels. Cool and light.

Did a Tuesday night shop ride and met a guy riding what I thought was a C&V Masi Gran Criterium. He fessed up that it's actually a newer frameset circa 2014. Had no idea Masi was reproducing these. Aside from the vertical drops and threadless fork, they're quite authentic looking.
BTW, he was an absolute hammer on this machine. Attachment 575578 |
2017 Masi Gran Criterium, Columbus Chromor, chrome lugs, stunning $1100 @ masibikes.com ;)

Saw this nice Medici on the streets of New Brunswick, NJ, most likely a Rutgers students bike.

I opened this thread for the first time some moments ago and was expecting something completely different. Something like this:

Spotted this gem parked at the river this morning, although not what most would agree qualifies for the thread. While not a bike it probably is old enough a rack to be C or V, but it certainly is eyecatching and makes you wonder just what the hell might have happened. No one around to ask.

While spending a couple days on Orcas Island in the San Juan's, I went into a small bike shop in Eastsound (the only "town" on Orcas) and the owner had his uncles '57 Schwinn Paramount Tourist hanging from the ceiling.
Also, driving up to Mt. Constitution, we passed a guy riding a vintage steel bike up to the summit. When he made the summit, I spoke with him for a few minutes. He was riding an approx. '71 Mercier 300 with a 42t small chainring and 28t large rear cog. Mt. Constitution is a 2000' climb in 4 miles and the rider was probably in his mid-late 60's. To say I was impressed would be an understatement! View from the top. https://i.imgur.com/TO33Vrl.jpg |
My brother sent me this pic, he was really excited to see it parked outside a pub. He lives in Prague and doesn't see to many non Czech bikes.

saw this nice Rossin the other day.
SLX tubing, with a sparkly red paint job. it was pretty neglected looking, and converted to a single-speed  http://interactive.cundari.com/bikef...in/rossin1.jpg http://interactive.cundari.com/bikef...in/rossin2.jpg |
The new standard in Dutch urban and commuter cycling: the latest rental model of the Dutch Railways. Coaster brake, heavy chain lock, and very, very sturdy.

Went by a local shop on its last day in business and saw this blackout Fuji (Ace?) leaning in a corner.

I often see this fine old Gitane parked in front of the grocery store when I visit my daughter in San Jose, CA. Must belong to an employee.
Looks well used and well loved. https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/Bik...MG_1661-XL.jpg Brent |
Impressive wear in front of the shift lever. Like the paint fade around original middle cable clamp. Not sure what's up with the black tape in front of the 1st clamp though, looks like there's an unused 4th clamp there? Don

This is more like finding it in captivity than the wild, but here is my mother-in-law's vintage Schwinn workout bike.

http://i.imgur.com/inwP4mxh.jpg One customer was going down her list of stuff she needed and was asking about the kind of felt brake pads these exercisers require, and she phrased the setup line perfectly, "Have you felt brake pads?" My reply: "Lady, I've been in this business so long I've felt just about every component there is." Cracked up the mechanic at the stand. |
