My Brother in law lived on Vashon in the 60's &70's & it was a local attraction. Back story is, a local family lost their home and possessions in a fire. Bike was among things given to them by neighbors afterwards. New owner/kid never liked the bike's solid tires, outgrew it & left it leaning against a tree in the nearby woods. Don |

There's a bike/tree blend near Stephens City, Virginia that I got a pic of many years ago. I'll have to find it. It features a similar juvie machine being absorbed.

This one was actually seen at an antique shop, not truly in the wild. It's a very basic bike boom tourist-type 10-speed with a National head badge and stickers proclaiming it to be an Ultra Sport. I sort of hoped it was a prehistoric Panasonic since that's the only National brand name I know of, but there's nothing to distinguish the machine otherwise. Interesting but very cheap rear derailleur, Sapporo brand? See photos for the ID: National Sport Wheels Corp. in Passaic NJ. The only reference I found is for a BMX bike by the same maker from 1987. One comment on that forum was that the head badge is "dank." True dat.

Started a new job this week downtown Chicago. Spotted this both yesterday (in the rain) and today, so shot a couple of pics. Trek 660 (I think? Maybe a 560). I think the owner works where I do... my size (well, a 56 would be better).
