Nope. Tires are fine. He's riding over a platform that has some give to it, somewhere between a piece of plywood and a trampoline. And don't go all snobby on him; he puts more miles on his bike in a week than you would in a good month.

Don't have pictures, but the other day I noticed both a nice Rivendell and a beautiful looking Gazelle at my BART stop, just parked at the bike racks. There's a nice looking older Nishiki too, though I don't know model info on any of them.

No pics for me either, but late Saturday afternoon as our band was playing a public outdoor concert in Gardner, MA someone rode into the audience are on a white w/blue Raleigh Gran Sport. I spoke to her during the break and she said it was a '75. Still had the Stronglight crank, GB stem, Weinmann centerpulls, but newer derailleurs.

Tied up at a bike rack in the Crystal City area of Arlington, VA.

Saw this in town a while ago. It does deserve better cable work and I suppose mudguard adjustment, but it's especially interesting to me, as I'm cleaning up my own DBS Internazionale these days.

I wish this thread were a sticky.
These bikes are total opposites and I think display the role of the owner/builder. One is a fairly ho-hum bike that was done beautifully (some will no doubt disagree about the rack paint, but I like it). The other was a special bike and has become ho-hum. Spotted this a few days ago - maybe nothing that special, but I thought it was a nice build that deserved recognition. http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0417.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0418.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0419.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0420.jpg On the flip side - I walked by this today, and threw up a little in my mouth. http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0435.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0437.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0439.jpg |

http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/IMG_0601.jpg Track bikes aren't my thing, but if I wanted one, this would make my list. Fork isn't original. |

A Raleigh Sprite that looks like it was built yesterday. I've seen this thing all around town and it looks even better than the pictures. I don't get how its stayed so nice. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...927_n.jpg?dl=1 Another nice Raleigh. I've been noticing these REI bikes lately because some of them were really nicely equipped. To say I'd love to find one at a garage sale for cheap with the tri-color STI would not be exaggerating. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...99281654_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...098_n.jpg?dl=1 |

The restoration job from Waterford's pretty spectacular. So shiny. Friend of mine brought this for me to see the other night. I didn't know about them. Campy wine-opener.
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...64551759_n.jpg Kind of fugly decals and stem on the bike but for some reason the green color, brooks, and horizontal top-tube called out to me. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...99543393_n.jpg |

I've been seeing some crazy stuff out lately, but haven't been able to photo it. I'll either be with people, won't have my phone, or be in a rush. I missed photoing a Merckx and BEAUTIFUL Bob Jackson last week.
This might be a bit less beautiful, but I really like what I saw, especially the saddle. Any guesses to marquee? http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/photo-12.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/photo-11.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/photo-10.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...67/photo-9.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/photo-13.jpg http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/a...7/photo-14.jpg |
I think that the Witcomb is a single speed. The rear wheel is way off center.
