Andre Reboul Superator. Frame by Bernard Carre, Super Vitus 171. This thing is fast, but still needs some work. Will be probably repainted this Winter in red metallic.

Some of that is due to looking down camera angle + wide angle lens distortion from closeup shot...Bar corve on non-drive side is closer to real life, it's a criterium bar, not the original French. edit: Tried to find another pic that shows bar better, found enough similar to this one that think I may be mis-remembering details, will have to check out the old GJ when back in Oregon, take some pics, go on a long ride. Always been very comfortable on it, but if bar is really that low, shouldn't still be comfortable for octogenarian me!

I Love the grand jubilee. They changed a lot over the years. I think the ones with the long cage jubilee derailleur are most sought after and I do have one but personally I think the later models with vitus 172 frame and fork are more to my liking.

Here is my baguette-hauler. Motobecane Grand Record 1974. The Campy NR derailleurs are still on it, but I changed out chainwheels and freewheel for lower gears (46/36 x 14-24), laced up lighter rims (Wolber Arc-en-Ciel Super Champion), glued on a pair of FMB Paris-Roubaix tubulars (25 mm), and added fenders. Still, it's been sitting in my basement because the frame is a tad small on me and I've come to terms with the fact that I should sell it, so someone else can enjoy. I'll probably be posting it on C&V Sales soon.

would think the 172 fork a big improvement over whatever they employed for the launch version
loved the look and concept of the launch edition and took one for a ride at me local stockist in '74
when applied the brakes could watch the blades wobbling rapidly back and forth like a wet noodle
that and the fact that me carcass fell between sizes meant never purchased one...

Thank you very much. :-) I think putting that photo here has caused a chemical change in me at the cellular level, because this morning I woke up thinking, wait a minute, why don't I put upright handlebars on this, and try it that way before letting it go? I have a VO Left Bank handlebar in my basement that could be just the thing.....Need to check my stem clamp compatibility, but this might be the way go....

Oh, do it- try uprights on it! I'm in a similar spot with a '69 PX-10 that's a tad too small for me- but I want to keep it, so I'm going to give uprights a try. Of course, I've got to finish stripping it and then I've got to paint it first...
