Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

they must be very early. record or chorus. by 1995 most of the Campagnolo parts were sporting names again. they look to be in great shape

i would completely agree with this. i think it was it about 95-96 that record levers got the cutout in the shift lever too

1993, maybe into 1994. The levers in those early years were shared by the Record, Chorus, and Athena groups. They are distinguishable from the '92s by the grooves.

They look identical to my Chorus levers i bought recently. I also have 8 speed Record on my Master and they have the cut outs.

Looks like 93 to me, but have no idea which level. I think they are the same from Record to Athena. Your has alloy body, with ball bearings. While the later one has plastic body and bushings.

Bikes: 2007 Nagasawa with C-Record, 1992 Duell with Croce D'aune/Chorus, three Gazelles, M5 recumbent

I also agree with 93 Athena-Chorus-Record.

OP's levers have inked Campagnolo shields, as opposed to the engraved ones on that Chorus lever. Likewise, the black section of the lever body is aluminum with a gloss black finish on the OP's, as opposed to satin black plastic on yours.

This said - if the catalog photos are reliable, the '93s are shown to have inked/laser (how did they do them, anyway?) shield logos, and the '94s are engraved. That pegs SteveJ's set as '94 Chorus, but it backdates the OP's set to '93 Record/Chorus/Athena, as paulkal indicated.

If the side-script "Campagnolo" hoods shown in the catalog made it to production, the hoods on the OP's set have possibly been replaced, or Campagnolo changed them to the shield logo sometime during the year.

My 1992 and 1994 Record ergopower came with the side-script logo. The 1995 ergopower (Record) has the shield logo.

Sounds as if Campagnolo was entirely inconsistent with the hood designs. Typical.

For reference here are some 92's, shared by the Chorus and Record Groups.
Smooth front. Hoods with Campagnolo script.

Edit: Great no thumbnails.
But if you click on them they are some good pics.
