I wasn't going to mention my pitchfork scar but since you brought it up...

Actually, I did get some nice road rash once. I used to sling my newspaper bag (remember when paperboys rode bikes) over my handlebars. There was this nice long hill by my house that you could get some real speed on, even on a Huffy Mountain bike. It was a nice hot summer day so I was wearing shorts. I was just at the age where my legs were getting hairy.
Wow, it was so long ago that I don't even remember why the newspaper bag was important but it was somehow. I do remember taking most of the skin off my left thigh. The hair stayed somehow. I remember that cause it made the scab really hard to pick off.
I bet I still have a scar down there. I'm not gonna look right now but when I'm changing into my PJs tonight I'll check and report back tomorrow.

Anybody remember that goofy old country song about 3 guys in a bar comparing scars and when they get to the last guy, he doesn't have anything to show so he tells a story about the woman he loved and the "scar upon his heart"?

I got my first cycling related scar when I was six years old... came off my Mustang and slammed my wrist into the edge of the fender and ended up with a deep cut that encircled almost my entire wrist.

After nearly 40 years that scar is almost gone (it was a vicious injury) and has moved up my arm by about 4 inches...thinking I came pretty close to slitting my wrist there.

I have many scars from wrenching on bikes, the most bizarre injury was being impaled by a strand of brake wire that went right through my thumb... was removing a canti cable clamp and when it flipped open this lone piece of wire shot out and went right through me. It was less fun pulling it out.

Worst injury as an adult was when I landed a 10 foot drop and took a spill coming down on the exposed chain ring... that left me with series of scars that runs from right below my knee to the top of my foot. It required the use of all my first aid supplies to cover it and had it been an inch left or right would have sawed through my calf muscles instead of my shin.

Rupturing the bursa on my left knee when I went down to avoid a head on crash with another rider might be the most painful injury I have ever sustained... compared to that sprains and dislocations are nothing.

At least you can ride with broken ribs.

You remind me of my first cycling accident. I tipped over while going down a steep ramp. I was probably about four years old. I was either on my tricycle or my new bike still with training wheels. Scraped my knee so badly that my scar was visible for most of my life. It's now very hair covered, and I don't remember if I saw the scar last time I shaved my legs. That was two years ago, and my wife asked me not to shave my legs again, since it's uncomfortable in bed. She wouldn't mind if I shaved and wore clothing in bed, but I'm not willing to wear anything in bed.

Tom - I think my list is below average for a 44 year old guy who likes sports... cycling has actually been pretty easy on me.

I have small scars all over my legs from my adventures in mountain biking... very few if any were picked up while I have been on the road.

I suppose that's true. It also shows that cycling is relatively safe. There are lots of injuries, and they're rarely life-threatening.

I guess I need to take a picture of my 9 false tooth smile. 6 up top (was 3 when first done 35 yrs ago), 3 below.
My dentist keeps promising me that my bottom bridge is going to come out one day so he can turn that into a 6 tooth as well.

My nose isn't really "mine" as well, and everything else is just a little out of alignment, but not really noticeable.
