Can anyone explain how I came across and most recently bought a 12 speed Sprite? I cannot find any info on 12 speed Sprite's. Serial number begins with RN4= R for Canada, N for Oct, and 4 for is either 1974 or 1984. The bike is well-preserved....any info is much appreciated.

Not trying to threadjack, but does anyone know where I can get one of those cool swoopy Sprite chainguard, in coffee? I converted my 5-speed 1975 or 6 Sprite into a 6 speed with two cogs in back, a Svelto rd, and an AW hub.
Actually, it's more like a 7 or 8 speed, since it also has two front chainrings. I almost never use the small one--just for the odd monster hill--and I just shift it by hand so I don't have to use a front derailleur. I also did it that way so I could use a chainguard. But I still haven't found a chainguard.

Raleigh only used that style chain guard for a year on the Sprite and occasionally had them on the juvenile bike lines. They are very rare. You could try Ebay over a long period of time, but the bronze green color is all the usually appear on there in. You're better off finding another vintage or current production chain guard that will fit your bicycle.
