Nishiki ID Help

My name is David & I just joined the forum in order, hopefully, get some information about my bike. According to the S/N, it was made in '76. I understand that there is at least one Nishiki guru here. I have posted some pictures at the following link:

https://picasaweb.google.com/dkulcinski3/BikeIDPictures?authkey=Gv1sRgCJPDxdaL8djQBA#

If anyone can tell me anything about the bike, especially model, tubing, original color(s) or any other pertinent information about it that I could use for a possible restoration, I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you,

David

Hi David - Welcome to C&V.
I am not your expert on Nishiki's, but I want to point out that your Picasa link just yielded a 404 error. (The server is there, but your page isn't for whatever reason)

Repost your picture and I'm pretty sure someone here will respond.

David -
I looked around and found this Nishiki Wiki page, created by Steven Vance.

https://www.stevevance.net/nishiki/Main_Page

He is still gathering information, catalogs, and serial numbers -and he might be interested in yours.

You already learned yours is a Kawamura frame, built for the US market in 1976 ... the serial number decoder is here:

https://www.stevevance.net/nishiki/Se...umber_Database

Of course those 600 bits are later replacements. I don't know what it would have had originally (other than center pull brakes: The cable hanger kind of gives that away.)

I have no idea at all what model it is. There seems to have been a proliferation of models.
