Paramount Came Home

I've been looking at this in my office for a month now, my co-worker has been unloading his garage to make room and help pay for his new land shark. The price was right and I finally gave in, even though I really had no plans for it.

Paramount 1 s.jpg
The serial number is K-73420 I believe it is a 73 P-15 touring model with the original leTour derailleur that looks just like my old Crane GS.
I pulled on a 27" wheel and realized there is no way I can put on any of my short reach side pull brakes. It will need 65 mm reach for the 27" wheels, and I was hoping to use a pair of 700's for the time being. My current goal is to get it put together for now from my parts bin and ride it.
Two questions;
1. What was the original brakeset for this model, and is there something readily available that I can use for now?
2. It looks like some replacement down tube shifters which I could live with, but again what where the original shifters, are there an affordable bar-end shifters available?

Thanks for your help.
Doug

I think the original brakes were Weinmann centerpulls, I am not sure which variety.

P15 would have Weinmann 999 centerpulls (Schwinn-Approved label) with 27" wheels, originally. Short reach in front (Weinmann 999 Mod. 610), medium in the back (Weinmann 999 Mod. 750).

Original shifters could have been any one of the following:

*Campagnolo Record downtube clamp-on
*Suntour (Schwinn Approved) bar-end shifters w/downtube cable stop.
*Schwinn Twin-Stick headset-mounted shifters w/downtube cable stop. (YECH!)

What everybody else said about brakes. And yes, it IS a P-15, you lucky duck. If you ever run across one with a 25" frame (for dirt cheap, of course), let me know.

Well, I think I can make it work with my Universal 68 side pulls - if I can get a drop bolt to work. The drop bolt I have is too wide for the springs on the Universals. Anyone got a line on a nice skinny drop bolt? Thanks.

You're still stuck with rear cable entry on the wrong side if you go that route.
