Help Id'ing this Cannondale

I picked this early 90's Cdale off craigslist a few weeks ago for a steal. According to serial number, the bike is a 91. Bike came fully equipped with 105 (hubs, brakes, headset, bottom bracket, cranks), biopace chainrings, and wolber gtx II rims. The stem and bars were cinelli, so I assume aftermarket. I am confused by the decals, which say 3.0, road race, and pro series. Any idea which model this bike would be (r600, sr600, etc) The pro series is throwing mne for a loop, since according to catalogs, these bikes came with higher end equipment (dura ace or ultegra/600). Either way, I am really enjoying the bike. I needed a frame to build for some triathlons this year, and this complete bike fit the bill. I threw on some oval concept aero bars, and shes good to go.
Thanks for all help.
Ron

I'm tempted to say frameset buildup. Components look like 600 series for that year but they didn't come in white. Cdale sold lots of framesets that got built by the LBS to spec, something I do today.

nice looking Cdale. IIRC Cdale was marketing a road and criterium frame back in those days. this frame would have a regular road style geomentry. the crtierium models sported a slightly higher BB for pedal clearance.

the 105 bits looks a tad older than '90-91 so I think this bike was rebuilt with the 105 stuff when someone upgrade their frame and sold this one off.

what kind of shifters? suntour?

Nice. Looks like a repainted 1990 SR600. Repainting in those is very common since the paint was not that great from the factory.

BianchiGirl, the shifters are suntour; I had them laying around as well, and fit well with the aero bars. original shifters were 105. The paint is nice, not aflat white but more of a pearl. I could'nt find date codes as to when the wolber gtx II s were issued, I know the 91's came with regular gtx's. Custom frameset build by LBS is a good guess; I did'nt think of that. I will try to get some specs on the componenst as to lend to the dates. I have been on vintage cannondale thoroughly; I find it a very nice, informative page. But again, I did not see the 91's coming in while (pearl white). Thanks for the help and kind words so far.

Correct, the 105 parts for a '91 had a grey colored painted finish and had dual pivot brake calipers. Those polished 105 parts are definitly earlier than the bike. I do think that Wolber GTX rims were original for cannondale of that age, might be that the hubs that are laced to the wheels are original and so might give a indication to what parts were orginally on the bike?

The criterium model frames had steeper geometry and they also had a larger diameter downtube for an even stiffer and less forgiving ride.

OH also to go along with the rebuild/custom build theroy. cdale used to do some sponsorship deals in the early '90s I think we got a slew of frames with our huge preseason order in '91. these were usually built with whatever the racer/club member had on their own bike or last years club frame.
