I've got a Bertin F/F that has some damage to the threads on the steerer. Any ideas on how to salvage it?

How bad are they?
If you had the right die would it save your fork or are the threads toast?

Aha, I found the listing for it. Of course the seller is in china and he uses a slow boat for shipping. I wonder if I can find it at local store for a respectable price.
