I'll have to remember to post pics of the tandem cranks I polished a few weeks ago, they came out very nice. I used 600-grit sandpaper to remove the original coating and then went straight to the polishing wheel. The wheel really makes short work of jobs like this, around 2 minutes per crank arm to a mirror finish.

James,

You did such a great job, I am wondering if I could send this teapot over to you to polish.

Here is a photo I just took

When you do polish parts, how long do they "last" before they dull up again and need touching up?

I did the same thing to a set of wheels for my car.

You can get well into 1800 grit, wet sand paper, at any auto body place.

Follow with mothers aluminum polish and possibly rotory buffer

That is hilarious... I just polished up my old mocha pot and promise that if I take a picture of that I'll wear clothes.

Been on a polishing kick of late myself and have been really pleased with the Mother's polish and the quick results... it does repel water after it has been applied.

Polished up an old BBC 7 bell last night and one could almost shave in the reflection afterwards.

I do, too.

You can also "graduate"the Mothers from 0000 steel wool to a towel to a shop rag to a t-shirt. The smoother cloth, the more mirror-like the shine. However, in time, the finish will "haze" a bit. That bothers me nil, as it still looks great. My goal is to do a set of rims that way.

The only cost? The story of why you have a frame for which you need an extra tall stem with a 140mm reach. Should be interesting
I was shining my teapot one day, and realized I needed a stem with more reach.....

For those in the know, do you find it easier to strip an anodized part by wet sanding, or do use something like Easy-Off first?

red devil lye, it's like easy-off on steroids (but must be used with caution and care)

I've used Easy-Off before, and I've had to sand after. Just wondering if sanding alone is easier.

Even applied outside, the Easy-Off nearly knocked me out. I don't have much tolerance for noxious fumes.
