JYB - Can you repost the link to your "warning" thread. Your link takes me to the ebay listing. Didn't your frame have an issue with the rear dropout, which was repaired? Thanks!

I sent a message to niftynikon on eBay prior to learning it was JYB's, and he stuck to his ad. Noncommittal on anything Centurion. He's sold a ton of bikes, a lot of Centurions, and he knows full well what the frame is.

Oops. Fixed the link. Yes, the rear dropout had been crushed closed at some point, but it was repaired. I brought it to a local LBS proprietor and amateur framebuilder and he vouched for the integrity, but he did suggest I keep an eye on it.

That's a different bike, Rob. Mine is listed by jamesleland. High volume seller and very slick presentation. I hope the bidding ends at a reasonable price.

Honestly, I was of two minds when I brought the frame to the swap meet. I didn't really want to sell it, but I also didn't want it hanging in my basement unused. I knew there were issues, so I preferred to have any potential buyers get the chance to inspect it in person. I priced it high at $250, figuring I wouldn't be disappointed to bring it home unsold. The buyer, far too short for a 62cm frame, didn't ask many questions. I volunteered the info about the dropout. He ended up with the frame for $200. I probably should have held my price, because I really wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it. I had the suspicion he would likely flip it, but I suppose money speaks. At least he didn't refinish it and attempt to pass it off as a genuine Cinelli.

But then there was the eBay seller of my pristine, all-
original '86 Centurion Ironman DS who accepted my payment
and then demanded that we "renegotiate" the price before
she would ship! I found her town's police department website,
wrote to her chief what she was doing and CC'd the letter
to her county prosecutor, state attorney general's office
and the FCC's Internet fraud unit. And I included her address
in the CC list too. She shipped the bike the next day without
further correspondence.

Don't mess with Mr. Winthrop
