Bianchi bottom bracket question
I am trying to find a square taper shimano (to fit my rx-100 crankset) bottom bracket for my late 80s (?) Bianchi (model?), and it seems that no where in the Twin Cities is there a bike shop that stocks anything italian threaded (I know that is is italian threaded, it currently has a Dura-ace bb that is too wide for my crank). I thought it would be easy to track down online, but (unless I am being very dense, which is quite possible) I can't seem to find the 107 width that I need. Also, any idea if the Bianchi would have a 68 of 70 shell? I measured last night and I swear it was 69 (maybe I need a better ruler than the kids school ruler.) Thanks for any knowledge.

Nice frame! I always wanted one of those SLX Bianchis. what is the threading of the DA BB? are you sure it is Italian? I sort of agree with EX on this Bianchi used alot of English BBs on the Italian made bikes ( atleast the ones made for Bianchi USA)
there is no difference in taper between a DA, 600 or RX100 BB so any one of those with the correct threading will work.
the width od the shell is determined by the threading. it is possible that yours measures 69, and is undersized from manufacture or over zealous facing, or oversize from not being faced correctly. that is why BBs have 'adjustable' cups.

I'm sure it is italian, I took it in to my LBS to have the dura ace bb adjusted and checked and that's what they told me (plus, the dura ace bb has 36 x 24 on it). Do you know what model this frame is, or from what year, I'm guessing late 80s-early 90s, but unsure.

OH that is easy LOL it is the frame they used in '89 for the Giro, Super Leggera and Mondiale. all there shared the same frame and I think even the decals were the same but I have to dig out the catalog to be sure. it was also available as a frame only in '90 as a Mondiale and I am sure a few were sold later than that but to my knowledge '90 was pretty much that last year for SLX especially with that decal style.
you may want to look at a Phill wood or the VO BBs. not bad for only $35 https://www.velo-orange.com/grcrubobritt.html
