Two bikes is enough right?

Finally got my hands on a GIOS that i purchased and had stored for a few weeks. with a good clean up, i got the pitting off the forks and chain stay, and replenished the grip in 'tennis' white with a white san marco regal to compliment. I must say i really like this bike! not sure of its age yet, but i'm pretty certain its a compact from around 2000-ish. any eagle-eyed ID welcome, as it's been repainted by the previous owner. It was the flat blue, and he got all excited about the more 'electric' blue that GIOS offered, and went with that. bottom bracket was grinding like a barista so i've replaced that and now she's ready to roll. A good racer to keep my Carlton Raleigh off the streets a bit. anyways, pics because it did happen!

Are two bikes enough? Is the sky ocean green? Does a bear in the woods use a toilet? NO
When you get somewhere around 10 or 20, now you're close to enough bikes.
But those sure are two good starting points. I really like the Gios with the brifters. Sweet.

No. Two bikes is not enough. I'm down to 1 (ONE!) rideable bike. Feels... wrong... Very wrong.
Nice looking ones you've got, though.

Hey Roccobike, yeah i feel pretty low-key around here with just two bikes but my wife just looks at me like i'm mad to want let alone need two bikes. i tried to explain the benefits of having a clip-in bike and a toe strap bike for different riding but she's pretty much decided i'm a bike nerd now. and i finally found out what the term 'brifter' means. thanks!

No. Two is not enough. It's enough road bikes for me though. Ideally I'd have two similar to yours: one oldie and one classic set up to rip!

Minimum bike stable for the wife and I is six bikes. I see noting wrong with that at all!

I just had to go to the garage and count. After selling off a couple we have 9 bikes. 5 rideable, 1 on the workstand, 1 in the cue, 1 boxed up for shipping to my daughter, and 1 that I may part out or fix and flip. Not room for any more right now.

great! this makes me feel like i'm being restrained. in fact its very controlled and sensible of me to have only two bikes given the vast array of possible bikes out there!

n+1 = correct # of bikes. n = # of bikes you now own.

Bikes: A few BSO's.

I usually have 2 or 3 that are waiting to get sold so I can give them a spin until they find a home but the pickins have been slim lately for flippers and for bikes that I would want to keep.
Less time to look for bikes is a result of being employed more so I won't complain.

I like about 4 or 5. The wife is good with 2.

2 bikes is enough in the bedroom.

But if you have a living room, kitchen, basement, or any other under-utilized space... NO!

jebus help you if you have a GARAGE!

(full disclosure: 33 bikes)

no garage, and a baby on the way. these are two very strong controllers in the otherwise irrational world of bike acquisition!

edit: and sh*t! Ivandarken, 33 bikes!?! you're close enough to a bike for each week of the year you might as well keep going!

I've been selling off the fleet, which had gotten at various points to about 12 bikes, now I'm really down to about 2 bikes, although there are a bunch of partially cannibalized carcasses still littered about. Anyhow, it really doesn't feel a whole lot different than when I had all those bikes. It always seemed like the most I could ever keep in tip-top riding condition was about 2 at a time, all the others always needing a tweak or a part or something. I do think I would feel limited w/one, since I like to have a go fast deal and another set up w/fenders, fatter tires, capable of carrying some burden, running errands, etc. If I was still MTBing, I would probably want 3 then.

I am going to get to three.

1. Univega Super Strada that was bought new. This is going to be my roadbike. Going to put an 8 speed Ultrega wheelset on it.

2. Univega Gran Rally. It'll be my single speed/ fixie bike. Nothing will be cut off. Bike's too beautiful to repaint, no-ones responding to my c-list posting, so I'm keeping it. Screw all of you non-responders in the OC area.

3. Looking for a vintage-ish mountain bike. Something I can bolt up a rear rack to. My general purpose all arounder.

Everyone needs a beach cruiser. Three speed bikes are hard to beat.

The cycle continues. No pun intended.

Yes, and lucky me... I'm packing to move. Hoping to sell 20 before the summers end.

Bikes: 72 Peugeot UO-8, 82 Peugeot TH8, 87 Bianchi Brava, 76? Masi Grand Criterium, 74 Motobecane Champion Team, 86 & 77 Gazelle champion mondial, 81? Grandis, 82? Tommasini, 83 Peugeot PF10

Don't believe any of them. Two is fine. It works for me. Unless you count my wife's bike, which would make three. And we have discussed getting a tandem. Don't know if that would make it four or four and a half.

Everyone is different. Two my be enough if you are a recreational road rider and want for nothing more... one for training and inclement weather and one for nice days and group rides when you really want to give 'er. But it all depends on your lifestyle...

Personally, I require about 7, but have 11.

The early part of this year largely consisted of winter road miles (in the fall I'll do some cyclo-cross racing) (cross bike, 1) and mountian biking (MTB, 2). I ride daily on my fixed gear with fenders to work, the store etc (fixed conversion, 3). I also play bike polo about once a week for fun and socializing (polo bike 4). As they weather becomes nicer I pull out the road bike and do some triathlons (road race bike, 5). Yesterday, I was organizing my work bench and decided I needed a hardware (nuts, bolts, and washers) organizer so I quickly jumped on my converted MTB basket porteur bike (basket bike, 6) and went to the hardware store... later that day my girlfriend and I went out for dinner and then a party and we picked up a 12 back of phillips beer and of course having the wald delivery basket was key. A couple weeks ago we went camping for 3 nights on Galiano island and need to bring all our food and supplies in with us... we like to live it up when we bike camp... so of course I needed my touring/trekking bike (tourer, 7).

My girlfriend has a polo bike, a city bike and a touring commuting bike... she has a single speed which is not necessary.

I also have 2 vintage roadies, one vintage track bike and one sport touring/rando style bike which I could live without.

Between the two of us. 10 is enough, but I am happy with 15 (11 me, 4 her)

I have one road bike, and one vintage mtb which is just a beater. Planning on buying many more as luck and finances allow.
