Time capsule Miyata
It was almost exactly a year ago that cb400bill helped me buy a near-mint 1987 Miyata 'One Hundred' mixte for my daughter. Though entry level, that was a sweet bike, and I was so impressed with it (and enjoyed the 'hunt' so much) that I decided I needed a vintage road bike for myself, and so did my whole family, and so on and so on...
So a couple of weeks ago, when a minty-looking 1987 'One Hundred' popped up on Chicago CL, I didn't hesitate. At 54cm I thought it would be a good move up for my son, but he did not like the color, and noted that it was heavier than his Fuji, which is true and a little surprising. Anyway, the only problem the Miyata had was a wobbly front wheel, due to the hub being completely loose, and out of true, probably due to having been ridden with the loose hub. I applied all the skillz I have learned in the last year, fixed it up, and just sold it to a very happy young lady for $180. I wish I had two or three more because the emails keep coming in.
With the price I paid I didn't make a $100 profit but the bike had a Blackburn minipump and a Flickstand which we harvested. So a nice deal all the way around. Thanks to all the C&Vers whose brains I have picked just by looking over the archives here!
I am going to pull down the CL ad shortly but here it is for the short term:

I'll follow up with just the pics.

I love picking up bikes with extras, and routinely do harvesting myself. I picked up a bike with speedplay pedals, a trainer, a floor pump, shoes, and a couple of other goodies. The extras went a long way towards what I paid for the package, making it a really nice deal.
Great prep job on that Miyata!!

Thanks guys...anything I know I learned at the feet of the masters!
That was the third of three bikes I sold in the last few days, now there's a little room and I can get back to projects for the family. Like the mixte I want to build up from a $10 Nishiki frame for my daughter (2nd daughter) whose Niko/Centurion mixte was stolen. But what's this on CL? A $50 Raleigh Sprite mixte??? Steel wheels but what a pretty june-bug green color...

Alan has been fully assimilated. Now he must remove "Evolving Noob" from his description.
