Peugoet Experts-info request on a Craigslist find

I've learned so far that it's a PX 45, based on the original receipt from the original owner who lived in Versailles and brought it with her to the states. I have not found much in the online catalogs I'm guessing since it was a European model? I think it's a 1978 and I'm guessing the wing nuts and 650B wheelset were not on the US models?

Other neat features are the bell with the tiger and the rack bungee cord in the black & white checkered colors, plus a very neat chainguard. Rides like a dream and had massive 650B Michelin 44mm tires. Switched to a new set of Panaracer Col De La Vie's, widest I could find at 38mm which still provides a cushy ride.

I wasn't looking for a Mixte but I'm glad I found this one. It's in stunning original condition, the only flaw being the bottle generator which will not retract so I've removed it for now, but the lights did work. Also missing the pump.

Comments on how rare these might be? I was shocked to see what I thought was a PX 45 go for over $1,000 on Ebay recently? Better than this of course but I'm still curious and surprised at the demand for these bikes.

Your general assessments are correct. Your PX45 was a European model and its very nicely equipted.

They look a lot like some Mafac levers I've seen. I had a set, and they were very good.

In 1978, Americans didn't crave bikes like this. Silly of us, really.
