C&V facebook page

Good or bad idea?
It would be a venue to post short c&v blurbs not threadworthy here, post pics, c&v ride info, maybe garner some more enthusiasts, etc.
Just a thought...

Personally I like this site and I would not bother to visit another site full of "not thread worthy" posts.

Although I use Linked-In extensively to further my career, I am not a Facebook fan and have concerns about security.

fb is definitely not a C&V-approved method. I'll tell you what: I'll start a Usenet group.

C&V + Facebook = does not compute.

I am a FB user but only because some friends kidnapped me and forced me to do it. I have concerns about security, etc, and a C&V group there doesn't interest me.
Maybe a C&V "Foo" sticky?
Ohh, I know! Everyone needs to get one of those desk mounted phone speakers like Charlie used to use on Charlie's Angels. Those are pretty cool.

Why don't you just mail out a monthly newsletter. Owning old bikes does not mean you are a Luddite. The good thing about Facebook is you can start a group and if people want to join they can. If they don't, no loss. Go for it.
Edit: 30 seconds late. I hate when that happens.

I'm on facebook but I rarely update my "status", I use it mainly to see what my friends are up to, and occasionally comment on their activities.
I think I would be more likely to post up random vintage bike related pics and comments there than here, as I said earlier, they don't all warrant starting whole threads about them, but they may garner a few comments. Every time I post an old climbing pic on my facebook wall I get a few comments.

Just did a search and found that there is a "Vintage Bicycles" page, with 330 "likers", and a "Vintage Bikes" group with 50 members.

True, it doesn't mean I'm a Luddite, but in my case it's true.

I agree, though... start the facebook page. I'll probably even join it but you'll have to guess who I am since it'll be under my real name.

Looks like it's been done. Pass.

Bad idea...it already sucks that the appraisal thread was sucked out of here to the main forum! Besides, then we'd get posts here saying "Hey, did you see such and such over on the Facebook page?"

Exactly.

That's the big one. The ONLY reason I'm on Facebook is to track my 13yo daughter. Her being on Facebook was contingent on my wife and I both always being freinds.

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

I prefer to keep all the C&V activity, and the current level of quality and cordiality to this place, where it belongs. Facebook is annoying and sometimes invasive.
If we are in need of reaching out to increase our membership, then facebook will do, but we may dilute the sauce.
