"Why hasn't anyone built an XO-1 clone?"

I know that question has come up before.

We've been answered.

Is it C&V? Eh, at least as much as Rivendell is.
Is it still cheaper to buy an original XO-1? Yes. But you don't have to spend six months in eBay bidding wars to get one.
Is it lugged? No.

Very nice "reissue." I was considering buying a Handsome Devil a year ago, but I had a bad hangup with the sloping top tube at the time (I'm feeling better now, thanks.) I like the XOXO, especially the 631 tubing, but I think I need to get a Speedy Devil. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

So they Job out to Taiwan? Or are they a hand made batch small builder? ..
Is that why they are 'Out' of something ..

rhenning can always get a clone custom built [oxymoron acknowledged],
may cost more than $700, but what the heck..

Yeah, the Speedy Devil looks awesome too—although functionally speaking, you could probably get almost the same bike for less money with a Cross Check. I'd still prefer the Speedy Devil (I got no need for the high-BB of a cross bike... looks better too) but who has money for new bikes?

Where did you see the sizes listed? The ones at the top of the blog post are for a ladie's model road bike.
Also, I imagine fit is a little different on an XO-style bike—all the Bridgestone catalogs show a lot more than a fistful of seatpost, and the largest size they made back in the day was only a 59.

I'll take one.

Little different Nitto stem for me, and I have a basically "brand spankin' new" Deore XT gruppo sitting in a box.

I even have the 26" Mavic wheelset, so this will be an easy sale.

Wonder if I can get a Nitto M12 on the front?

Ride report this winter, or sooner if I can get my mitts on one.

Off to call One on One to see if they still have this on the floor!

I'll ask the owner of the shop if he minds a brief foto shoot.

If not, I'll post them up pronto in a day or two.

I've always regretted selling my XO-1, as it was a great bike for all-round adventure riding.

26" meats on that baby!

Heh, wait a minute, I wonder if Challenge makes any 26" tires?

Off to their website.

True, and you can get an exact functional equivalent for $379 - the Handsome Devil. Is it worth an extra $120 for the paintjob? Probably to some of us.

Maybe not.

But here's the thing, I am due for a new commuter frameset anyways, and I like to ride something different. I've been riding my son's Colnago Super, but i think he's gonna sell her out from under me.

I could build this XOXO a bunch of different ways, including a SS option for the winter months.

The other thing is I have all the goodies to build the bike. All I'll need is the frameset, so this is doable at that price.

Doesn't hurt that the owners are local either.

Not nearly as much

At first I thought the Speedy Devil was the XO clone and I was thinking "Ok, that's cool and all, but what's with the paintjob? Then I saw the orange and I was thinking "WANTWANTWANT."
