Missing headbadge
I was going to show you this old rod brake Hercules I picked up last week that has a three-speed cluster and part of a cyclo-gear shifter when I noticed the head badge is missing. This makes about 25% of my finds have been "altered" in such a way. I don't think I like this modification to put it mildly.

Frank,
It reminds me of the ladies Hercules SS I found at the Stump Dump several years ago. Same crankset, fork crown, and rod brakes. I don't know why I didn't take a better picture of the head badge before sending it to wahoonc. Maybe had can post a better picture. You might PM him to alert him to your thread.

I bought the bike for $17.00, I am sure the former owner, an antique dealer pried it off. I may just dismantle this bike to help my '48 Rudge along. I haven't seen many rod-brake bikes with derailleurs.

Frank, I am pretty sure I have a Hercules (Nottingham) "H" head badge if you want it. I know, not quite right, but there it is.
That's a pretty cool bike. Too bad the Cyclo derailleur is missing! I don't like the idea of dismantling it.

I usually find the headbadge for sale under "Seller's other auctions". Once I bought a bike that was being parted out on THECABE and when I responded to another seller's ad for headbadges he sent me a picture of MY NEW BIKE that he'd just ripped off from the origional seller's ad. The only difference was that now the price was $10 more and there was a screwdriver gouge where the hamfist slipped trying to get the screw out.
