So i thought this thread would be nice for people to show their most recent bike they bought.

Anyways i just picked this up yesterday, here's a quick pic, i will post more after i clean it and whatnot.

I never thought i'd own a Steve Bauer, I was just meeting this guy cause i was going to buy the bike and flip it. The picture he used on craigslist was terrible, but i thought it would be a nice money maker to sell to some hipster. but when i saw the bike in person i think i fell in love with it :D, it had 105 everything, i couldn't believe it. It could be another addition to the stable, cause for the super deal of the price i got it at, it wouldn't hurt the pockets to have another bike.

Yes i know it's pink, but only the manliest of men can ride a pink bike.

Anyways don't know much about where it ranked but here are the stats:
- Cromoly Infinity Tange frame
- Shimano 105 EVERYTHING...., Crank, rear derailleaur, front derailleaur, brakes, hubs, downtube shifters, brake levers are 105, but they say SLR, so i don't know what the difference that is from regular 105.
- Nitto Stem and drop bars, so that's really nice

Anyways if you guys have any more info on the bike that'd be great, i don't know where infinity tange frames rank but it's really light, i'm more into the columbus and renolds frames. if you can tell me that'd be great.

i'm guessing this is a late 80's bike?

Your Steve Bauer is not really a Steve Bauer bicycle. I believe it is an Asian offering, bearing Steve's name.

I am not an expert in Steve Bauer bicycles. I can honestly say, after finding lots and lots of vintage road bicycles, that I have not run across one true Steve Bauer bike. All have been nice enough Asian offerings and built in Taiwan.

The original Bauer bikes were high quality, Reynolds tubed with Campagnolo drops, bicycles. There were not all that many made, as I understand it. As I said, I am not expert on original Steve Bauer bikes.

The Asian ones are mid level, reasonable well made and often fitted with nice components. The ride quality is more than acceptable but nothing that will rock your world.

Now there is one for the show us your pink bike thread. Cool paint job, nicest looking steve bauer ive seen.
Randy: Interesting, I never knew that, I just figured a Steve Bauer bike line was simply put out due to his success, all being built by some other company. Where were these original bikes built location wise?

I found this on CL a couple weeks ago for $25. If it wasn't my size, I probably would have passed on it. A 1983 64cm PSV10 frame/fork/and a few extra pieces.

My most recent is this late 90's Vicious Cycles Metal Guru.

I've got the frame stripped down of all parts except the headset, tastefully spray bombed in the original color scheme (a PC is in it's future if I turn out to like the bike), and now am ready to reassemble into a townie using a donor parts bike. I will be posting in the Before/After thread very soon.

I came across this in early Sept. unfortunatly I think it is closer to a 56 than the 58 it was susposed to be so it may go one the block. very sexxy Shogun though, Tange Infinity tubes and light action SIS and SLR

Most, if not all, of my very limited knowledge about the true Steve Bauer bicycle comes from a local bicycle guru who sold bikes through the late sixties until today. He is a master bicycle mechanic, in my opinion, and pretty darn knowledgeable about vintage bicycles, in general. It was he who warned me about mistaking the two completely different Bauer bicycles.

That said, I did like most of the Asian Steve Bauer bicycles. There was one entry level model that was, well - entry level and not much to write home about. The bicycle that started this thread is no such bike. The new owner, be the bicycle pink, or not, is in for a treat.

By the way, I know where there is another, near mint Steve Bauer where I live. Yes, it is of Asian origin but a very nice bicycle, none the less.

Aside from numerous flips, this '72 Super Course was the last acquisition* that I finished refurb'ing for my own stable.
(* I've also acquired another Moto GJ, but it's not finished it yet. )

just acquired this 1987 Marinoni Special, full c-record, cobalto brakes. 'super turbo' saddle. I haven't cleaned it yet but it is very minty and cleanish.

Is that price listed on the classic fuji catalog page for real ($1299)? A 1988 Schwinn price list shows the Circuit retailing for $800, with Columbus SL and also Sante.

I commented on the Trek earlier, but I think you are right about that U08 and you would do well to take more "before" pics because it should turn out great. ( Always do Drive side photos too please!)

The frame is a little rough...the pearl paint really doesn't do age well. Finding a close touchup has proved to be EXTREMELY difficult. I'm still not totally happy with what I used on the fork, fortunately the chips there were small so the spots are more well hidden. I'm going to try one more auto touchup paint....then I'll use the closest I have.

If I like the ride of this bike and I can get JR at VeloCals to do me a decals set I'll seriously consider a repaint of the frame. I sorely wish it was in the same shape as the Fuji America I posted. :(

I did take a bunch of pics of that one and I usually get a full drive side shot but for some reason I missed it on this one, got distracted or something.

I've actually got another tall frame Uo8 in the works right now, virtually identical to the one I just posted except it's blue.

All puns intended. Price was very reasonable given that it is a mid 90's model. Look figured out carbon and aerodynamics long ago.

Steve Bauer or not, the OP's bike is one gorgeous and functional piece of machinery and art.

You will probably love that frame, though. I like my Op. III a lot, and yours, is one better!

That seat post is worth a mint on Ebay. Selling it, might pay for the whole frame. A lot of guys use it to correct difficult fit problems. Those stems are expensive too.
