Bikes: How'd I get this many?
^Funny, I was never a tinkerer at all before becoming an avid road cyclist a few years back. I grew up playing lots of sports, but didn't do much with my hands.
Working on bicycles has really brought out the inner engineer in me - my father is a mechanical engineer. Fun to work with him. I'll be reading the instructors and he'll say, "Give it to..." He just has to look at it for a minute and he can figure it out.
I really think working on bicycles has improved my overall ability to understand mechanical objects of all types. And, it has definitely given me an appreciation for tinkering, handy work, understanding how things work, and fixing something yourself.
Now I need to go get on that annoying rear wheel leak...

I'll join the chorus as well. I love to tinker with the steel. Wife knows where I am and my kid hangs out with me too ! Great thing though is that for all the tinkering I still need something ready to ride when the road calls

What is it about Suntour parts? Take the V-GT luxe RD, I just like the feel and looks of it. Sometimes I'm not sure if I want to install it, or just walk around holding it for a while. I'm OK.....right?

^^^^I don't know....I use derailleurs as paper weights at work.
Back on subject......
I must be pretty poor at tinkering, I have unfinished projects all over the house, it's been that way since I was little. Reflecting on it a bit, the tinkering part always leads to frustration which I don't enjoy, but I love to look at and ride the results.

They get into our bird feeders, and annihilated our Tomatillo crop this summer.
Getting cold now though, that will take the spring out of their step.

This needs to be a t-shirt.
I love working on bicycles. I've started commuting, but yeah, I'm slow. I'm just coming to the acceptance that I enjoy bikes and don't need to get there as fast as possible. Part of the reason I'm selling my carbon bike.
