I came up with that rule because I didn't want freight charges to be excessive nor did I want anyone spending much more than anyone else.

3 lb limit, it would have to be carbon fiber frame.....but look on the bright side, it's a good use for a carbon frame plus it can be reassembled with glue, kinda of a win/win.

Just brought home from the PO the same box Neal mentions. My BOC will weigh whatever, but will be filled to the brim with crappiness. Can't wait to send it and see the look on Karen's or Carl's face at the PO desk: "Pastor Bob, what did you shove in this box? Do we need to call homeland security!?!" I'll just reply, "No, it's just a BOC!"

Two reasons off the top of my head:
1) Gaming the System. A participant could wait until a known high-roller like BBM signs up and then be next in line figuring to increase the odds of getting better crap.
2) Diminishing Returns. C&Vers with better or more stuff are more likely to sign up early so the farther down on the list you are the more likely you are to get crappy crap.
I like the idea that we don't know whose crap we're getting until it shows up; you'd have to randomize it in secret and e-mail us our recipient's address.
Flat rate international gets really bad over 4 pounds.

right, this is the box i'm using, and so far have 10 lb stuffed in it. that's why i thought 3 lb as an upper limit is too restrictive... my intent is to stuff it to the gills. the recipient will have to extract the contents.
