I have a very similar ladies World Sport, also in black, that I've got built up with Shimano Arabesque 600 components. I think its nice but more than a couple of the girls who've ridden it didn't care for downtube friction shifting.

Nice. Does your daughter know it'll be under the tree? I think most of the manufacturers made the right choice by putting stem shifters on the mixte and ladies frame bikes. My wife prefers them over downtube shifters.

I built up a similar style bike for my 14 year old daughter last summer. I put North Roads style bars for a more upright "cruising" posture and switched to some simple bar mounted thumb shifters because she didn't like the stem shifters.

My Sekai has them (brazed on Hearts).Haven't seen them on schwinns.Adds a nice touch to it though.

Personally, couldn't care less for downtube shifters.

I think you fellas are referring to the braze on that acts to hold the clamp-on cable stop (or shifter clamp) in place. It has the shape it does because of the shape of the clamp. It just so happens to look like a heart. They were found on men's frames too.

That bike should have a kick stand plate...

For added convenience and use!

Nice job, but your rear brake housing is severely short and the RD housing is way too long. Also, it's best to route the cables behind the handlebar.
