I guess I don't watch enough zombie films...but you're right. The GPS network would die wouldn't it?

Plan B - I'm using a tandem and taking Bruce Campbell as the stoker!

I voted British 3 speed, but I want a 531 frame on that. I consider a Sturmey Archer transmission to be more durable than anything ever put on a Schwinn Varsity, and probably more durable than that on a vintage MTB.

I'd ride a fixed gear with neon deep v's towing a classic touring bike. All the zombies would flock to the fixed gear , mesmerized, at which time I'd escape unnoticed on my touring bike.

This has already happened to me several times.

GPS would continue to work as long as the satellites stayed up and powered. As long as their orbit didn't decay and their solar panels didn't take too much damage from debris, you'd be good to go.
I'd actually go none of the above. I want a classic touring bike...essentially my Koga-Miyata...but with an IGH and generator hub on the front. I definitely want a GPS system so as to avoid getting stuck on a road that suddenly stops. Wide handlebars would be essential to keep the bag carrying the large gun and front low riders to carry an axe on one side and rifle on the other.
Of the options above, I go rigid MTB and turn it into a tourer.

I'm also wondering if the best frame might actually be titanium...it would be the most resistant to zombie blood corrosion.
Excellent points! Definitely a scabard for an ace or machette -- close in work. And, Ti, of course.

Obviously, Cadburry (and likely Gloria as well) have been turned into zombies and are chasing young Mr. Rich, grunting for his brains. Unfortunately, Freckles and cousin Reggie are just around the corner, also transformed into Zombies. Looks bad for Richie, like I told you.

I'm not sure how much good they'd be after the ground stations have been overrun.

This is definitely the saddle of the apocolypse...it can also be used as a weapon in a tight corner. Or...alternately...you can pound a rock against it to start a fire.

I also had to vote for non-susp MTB. Any good escape route from a city will be to a rural area. Roads will be littered with carcasses and debris. I think I'd also have a kayak/canoe with me (probably on a trailer). Zombies can't swim right? Time to get to a deserted island. Or just to a small island where you can take care of any existing zombies with relative ease.

Other pro for steel MTB is the possibility of adding a cage. I was thinking more substantial, but this will keep you rolling.

Apparently some of them have retained the coordination to ride a bike. And, they're using toe clips!

Best thread evar .

I'd have to take my Bianchi Project-7 with the original tires. Almost as fast as a proper road bike on the road and almost as good as a proper MTB on anything but sand. I'm starting to think that carbon might be the way to go, however, as zombies are only looking for people with brains, right?

Dude, those are whitewater playboats. You would need a bigger river runner or a touring boat to carry your weaponry. It's hard enough to fit your legs in those tiny playboats.

Definitely a rigid MTB. With braze-ons and TIG welds to mount weapons, like custom 12GA zip gun barrels spread fore and aft, when the zombies try to rush you. Pikes, and machetes too.

Choosing a Walmart bike is suicide. Since most zombies will be former Wal-martians. Some brain activity will trigger when they see you. Slurring "NEXT", "Roadmaster" as they rush you. You become zombie sushi as your fork suspension collapses, and chain snaps.
