Campy Crankset/Ergo Compatibility
I am wanting to upgrade my olmo to post 2001 campy 10 speed. Preferably using 2009/2010 Centaur/Chorus Ergo's that retained the Ultra Shift.
My question is, how important is it to have to have "10 speed" cranks when using these Ergos? I actually kind of like the look of the cranks that are currently on the bike (which I think are 80's C-record).
These are my current cranks:
Would they work with 10 speed ergo's?
Jared
PS: Related question-- Any problem using SRAM 10 speed chains on campy 10 speed?

In spite of the nice reference Robbie provided, they will work, with a caveat. The chain is narrow enough to drop between the rings, and is not ideal. A lot depends on the skill of the operator. You could go to Campy Chorus/Record 10 spd alloy cranks, and not look back. I think they even look better than C-Record, thinner arms and still a hidden fifth.
I use Campy chains, but have heard good things about KMC, no experience with SRAM on Campy, Robbie's link says not so hot.

I laid a 10spd double crank set up against a 9speed double (I have both) and the rings lined up perfectly between the two.

And one more question-- is there any significant difference in the chain rings? Are the 10 speed rings significantly skinnier than the older ones?

But if I was going to buy new campy cranks, should I consider getting the new style with outboard bearings? As I recall you have those on one of your bikes.
