anyone got a clue?

Hi heres a yard sale find that I'm using to replace my recently stolen road bike. Did'nt know who Merekx was when I found it but it was campagnolo from the seat post to the hubs, the components of my dreams when I was a kid! Of course I'm up to speed on the "cannibal" now and I wish I could say this was a museum piece but this thing was rode hard, thrashed and put away wet. My apologizes to the purist but the frame looked as if it had been locked in a room with a mentally challenged child with a framing hammer so a little filler and a respray was my only option. so here's some before, during and right now flicks.I'm really stoked, all it needs are new cables and the Maviks trued up and I'll be on the road again! If anyone has an idea when and where it might have ect, ect, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Whatever you all come up with, it's all good, cause I'll see ya on the road with my cool Eddy Merekx!:-D I can't seem to get the fotos to load but I put them on the intro section under greeting from long beach former home of the US f-1 grand prix. Thanks for any help, C ya

Hello Zagatofst. where are your pics? I hope you have some really good before pics so we can try and identify it.

Portacatena dropout, single bottle bosses, shifter bosses and cable routing over BB shell but no front derailleur hanger is generally a good indicator for circa 1979-1982.

Not joking, the fork looks bent, or a really tight frame geo?
Cool bike though.

i hope this isn't one of those times when the host from Antiques Roadshow says "ahh, if you hadn't stripped the original paint it would be priceless"

looks like a fun project!

Triomphe group would indicate 1984/5... might not be the original equipment but it looks like the whole package so I'd say so.
Fork looks bent so badly that the wheel might hit the downtube but the rest of the fame looks good enough to merit a new chrome one.

^ or straighten that original out: it's a nice flat-top crown, worth trying to save it before junking it. I hope you repaint it Molteni orange!

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

That fork can probably be straightened. Sounds like you're on track to have a sweet ride.

i feel terrible. the original post seemed frightfully trollish, but the pics seem to indicate that this guy is legit. i know it's completely impolite, but i'm exceedingly curious: how much did it set ya back, Zagato?
