Replacing (no-name?) hub cones...
Hey guys...looking for a little help tracking down some info on hub cones...
I noticed some slight-to-worrisome pitting on 2 of the 4 cones (front and rear) during a recent grease/re-pack of a Weinmann Rm19 wheelset (probably my fault for not paying closer attention to the grease level
).
Anyway, looking to replace/upgrade with new, but the hubs themselves (aluminum, El-Cheapo brand?) have no label or stamping. Is there any way to tell what cone I need given the information above, or will I have to break out the calipers and do some hardcore Googling? No LBS nearby, so all parts will have to be mail ordered USPS...
(On a side note: what's the deal with finding threaded hubs for vintage 10-speeds? Am I not looking in the right places or have they disappeared entirely ?!)

Take your cones to a local bicycle shop and my guess is they will be able to match what you have. I have done this on many occasions. As for finding vintage threaded hubs - where are you looking. I almost trip over the darn things where I bike hunt.
Ebay usually has a wide assortment of hubs and frequently for minimal cash outlay.

Looked in all the usual places (eBay, Google, The Find, Amazon, REI, OBJ, etc). Know of any links to new 10 speed thread-on hubs?
Perhaps you should supply a picture of what you are seeking?
