I have a Diamond Back Ridge Runner II frame/fork/headset. It's from the mid 80s(maybe 84). It has braze-ons for everything, including lowrider, rack, and fender mounts. Has the original bi-plane fork. The only issue is a repair on the seat clamp area. One of the clamp lugs was re-welded. The repair looks fine, but will need a little touch up paint.

The frame looks just like this, but has brazed-on threads in the middle of the fork legs.

I'd be open to something similar in at least a 23" frame(24 or 25 even)

Seat tube - 47cm (center to top of top tube, or 50cm center to top of seat tube)
Top tube - 55.75cm (c-c)

84 Schwinn Super Sport

I have an 84 Schwinn Super Sport, Tange #2 "extra" with a Tange fork. Measurements are 25" seat tube center to top, and 23" top tube center to center. There are a couple of small dings in the top tube (one on top side, one on bottom side), the paint is not compromised.

I'm pretty open on trades. I fit a 56 or 57cm, would also be open to parts trades. Let me know what you have. A nice set of drilled Dia Compe brake levers would be good for me right about now. Most important though is to see this bike get a home where it will be used.

PM with your email as I don't have 50 yet.

Note: the top tube looks deformed in one of the pictures, I can assure you it is not.

I have a 1998 Jamis Auroura 57cm road bike. It has RSX components (triple) with brifters. The brifters may or not work 100% I am not sure yet, I just got it and havent had my bike mechanic try to adjust the deraillers yet. If the brifters dont work they are rebuildable (I found a guy online) or friction shifters can be used instead.
The bike seems to be a touring type bike, it has braze ons for racks front and back. Condition is excellent except maybe for the brifters- dont know yet. My ideal bike size is 56cm not 57. Id consider a trade for a 56cm road bike of comparable quality, either swap frames or entire bikes. I dont want to trade away the RSX components only. No photos available- dont have camera.

Bikes: 2001 LeMond Poprad, 1983 Vitus, 1973 Raleigh Gran Sport, 1983 Fuji Del Rey, 1974 Fuji S-10, 1956 Triumph, 1971 Raleigh DL-1, 1964 Phillips, 1982 Motobecane Supermirage, 1962 Raleigh Superb, 1958 Robin Hood, 1966(?) Raleigh Sprite

I have a 54cm (53?) black Vitus 979 (not sure of year) with original mavic crankset, mavic hubs laced to mavic rims, shimano 600 derraileurs, all in very reasonable shape. Looking to trade for same bike in a 57 or 58 (not sure what size it was made in).

Happy to take some pics if there is interest.

I have a white 25.5 inch Raleigh Grand Prix frame. I think it's a Carlton though. I haven't had time to look into it.

ok, I will have to dig it out. It's in the attic. I think it even still has a nice set of white Carleton brake hoods.

I would love to find a trade for my mid-80's Nishiki Prestige 57 cm frame. It is a great bike, just a little short for me.

In the Boston Area:
I have a complete 1984 Trek 420 with a 25.5 C-T seat tube frame. It was abandoned in our building and needs complete rebuild but it is in pretty good shape. All original and looks low mileage. The paint is the dark metallic blue with only a few scratches. Everything very straight. With new tires / chain / hoods and tape it would be a pretty bike, just too big for me.

Looking for something similar year / quality / condition in the ~20 - 22 inch range straight swap complete or Trek 420 frame only.

Reynolds 531 Raleigh Grand Prix | 55 CTC | 55 TT

I am throwing my '86 Raleigh Grand Prix frame and fork out there. Looking for 56-57cm TT in a touring frame. Cantilever brakes preferred, unless it's an older sports tourer. Reynolds, Tange, Columbus...You know the drill.

Reynolds 531
55cm CTC
56cm CTT
55cm ST

Bikes: Jamis Eclipse, '81 TREK 613 (stolen) replaced by '82 Treck 613, Schwinn Supersport custom build (Stolen), Raleigh Scott Tinley - wife's(Stolen), Lightspeed Titanium custom build, late 70's Motobecane tandem, 80's Miyata 914, '86 TREK 400 Elance

I have a 1970's Something MOTOBECANE Tandem that is in VERY nice shape. Has drum rear brake brake. I'd say the frame is in the 22-24" range at least in the front with more clearance for the stoker. It fits me and wife fine, but it's a divorce machine! We're better off riding our own bikes separately at our own pace. Shipping would be kind of high but if you're In the GA, AL North FLA area we could work something out.

I'm looking for a Schwinn Voyager 11.8 or SuperSport or Sport Limited or Superior from late 1970's or early 80's or Trek 520-620 touring. I'm 5'8" and ride a 54cm (22-24"). I'll post pics when I get a chance

Univega Viva Sport

This bike was in the basement of our building when we moved in. It's too big for any of us, so I'd like to trade it for something small that my roommates could share.
Pretty much anything suitable for riders 5'2" - 5'6". Cromoly (not hi-ten, please), something with decent tire clearance. A mixte would be cool.

It's a 25" Univega Viva Sport, all cromoly. Paint is a bit scratched in places. All the parts shown are included (no brakes, wheels, bars, or brake levers), but I might take off the seatpost binder and the pedals for a project.

Ideally a trade within the Boston area (no shipping), but if someone has something suitable I'd ship.

a little scratched on the chainstay

Trade for something in 52-53cm size. Maybe a 51 or 54 depending on the frame.

1972 Raleigh Grand Sport

Never mind, I built this frame up and I decided to keep it for a while.

I have this frame. I believe it is a 1972, Carlton made, Raleigh Grand Sport. Reynolds 531 double-butted frame and fork. It has some scuffs and scratches, but no dents or dings. The seat tube measures 55cm c-c and the top tube measures 57cm c-c. Accepts a 27.2mm seatpost.

EDIT: Sold one of the frames locally, removed it from this thread and the Google Doc. Wasn't of any use to me, and didn't seem to garner significant options for trades. The 420 is still available for decent trade.

HAVE: 1984 Trek 420. Frame-only or 99% Complete. A great sport-touring platform for a smaller rider.

Dbl butted Tange with Suntour dropouts. Made in Waterloo, WI. ST: 49.5 (C-T), TT: 52. Finish is in decent condition with clearcoat largely intact. Down-tube decals are on-top of clearcoat, so they are pretty dried out. Finish does have some chipping due to age and storage in previous owner's garage. Braze ons for bottles, front fender, and rear fender or rack.

Frame-only includes:
Frame, fork, and headset.

99% complete includes:
Stock wheelset (27" Weimann/Malliard Helicomatic 6-Spd)
Simplex Criterium clamp-on DT shifters
Shimano 6207 FR/RD (600 wide-range/long-cage series)
Stock SR Super Custom Triple (165mm arms, 50/45/28)
Belleri St Etienne bars (39mm) and stem (70mm)
Stronglight 27.2 seatpost (w/ toss-on seat)
Generic Dia-Compe or Weimann road levers with extensions.

Only thing it would be missing is brake calipers, cables, and bartape.

More photos here.

--------------------------------------

WANT: 54-56cm Mixte, anything interesting 59-60cm. I'm looking for a project for my girlfriend or a fun frame. I don't mind projects and love everything from UO8's and French gaspipe to upper-level 80's/90's Japanese.

Hi Maddox
I am really interested in that 420 to fix my too tall 420 a few posts up.
I do not have your mixte but maybe we could make a deal on the frame / fork / headset.
Where are you located? I am in Boston.

Hey Maddox,
You were right, 19 inches is just too small. Even went to the trouble of getting on one and there is just no way I can do it. Too bad, that is a nice looking frame and my chances of another drop in replacement are nil.
Oh well, thanks for the response. I will keep watching.

Looking for something similar in the 56-57 range, 56ish top tube. 27"/26"/700c decent steel frame, canti and rack mounts, etc. Maybe you even have an old rock hopper frame or something like that that would fit the bill.
You have actual pics of your frames? What are the top tube lengths?
