Hi!
Just took possession of a pretty nice 53 cm Bianchi with Columbus Matrix label on seat tube,; Gipiemme hubs, cranks, seat post, headset, pedals, droputs; ITM drop bars; Ambrosio 19 Extra rims and sewups; Modolo calipers; Campy NR rear derailleur, Campy front derailleur, Campy shift levers on brazed-on mount; 968 and 6 . 1 on bottom bracket shell; "Bianchi" in san-serif letters cut into top of seat stays; Bianchi eagles cut into fork crown. Browsing this forum leads me to guess this is mid-1980 vintage, middle-of-the-quality range bike, but I'd greatly appreciate more expert insight into this bike's identity. Haven't figured out how to upload images given this being my first post. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. I didn't think that Bianchi used Matrix or at least didn't call it such in the USA market. Regardless, your frame was manufactured in 1986 and possibly late enough in the calendar year to be a 1987 model. The 1987 models typically have a 1986-1987 Campione del Mondo Colorado Springs decal on the down tube, just above the shift levers. If it doesn't have one, it's should be a 1986 model. Based on the components, it sounds like the mid-range Nuovo Alloro model, which was 6th in the 13 model road line. These were typically market in the USA with the Bianchi Formula II tubing decals.

I think the series there just hard to see because of the paint, dirt and those dots.
I see a Victory crank and what appears to be a Victory hub. I don’t understand why you’re so reluctant to help us help you or even listen to what we tell you. There were very few if any Record models listed in the US market, and if you bike looks almost exactly like the one in the link then it most likely the US Vittoria model which very likely carried a name more familiar to European markets as Record Victory.
I would love to hear and see more about the parts and other markings on this bike

The general configuration is that of a Vittoria, while the stay caps and crown point towards a 1985 model, as opposed to later. There have been some obvious changes, such as the handlebar, stem, brake levers, saddle, seat post and pedals.

I see... One thing I noticed was that most other people's versions of this bike have pump bosses and I don't see any on mine; was that because it was too small a frame to fit a frame pump to?

I'm trying to get specifications for the Bianchi Advantage (women's) bike I bought in, I think, 1993 or '94. It's forest green, I'd say.

I bashed the fork and need to replace it, wondering whether I can use one I saw on eBay.

Your Advantage was manufactured in Taiwan during March 1993 by Hodaka. Critical parameters for the new fork will be the wheel size, brake mounting, crown race diameter and steering tube length, all of which you can get from your existing fork.

Yes, only the three main tubes are chromium-molbydenum and since butting isn't mentioned, they are plain/straight gauge. Given that it's a Tange product, it's likely Tange #5 or the seamed equivalent.
