I Love Lucy
Recently I caught an episode of I Love Lucy where the gang went on a European bike trip. Seems that Lucy was having trouble crossing the Italian/French border on the way to Nice. Something about a misplaced passport.
Anyway, typical Lucy hi-jinks occur and she tries to mingle in with a bike race to sneak across the border. With the non-HD quality pics it is hard to tell but appears it that, except for Fred and Ethyl on a tandem, everyone was riding 3 speed Schwinns....even the racers.

I never knew French racers were so big into Schwinns. . . Seems every time I turn to this forum I learn something new - but it always begs the next question:
Did the Schwinn "Continental" acquire its name from the French, or the other way around?

Well since you are talking about racing bikes and handlebars, look at the bars, fenders and racks on 2 of these racing/training bikes at around the :50 mark. One of them won the Giro De Italia and placed 3rd in the TDF. Not to mention 3 world TTT championships. Maybe they are on to something!

I watched them all as a kid in the early sixties.
Did you know the credits that roll on the reruns are not the original ones? The original intro and credits were heavily infiltrated by their sponsor, Phillip Morris:

Just makes you want to run out and grab a carton, doesn't it?

Close, but no cigar. Sure is fun to have a bunch of "uncut and restored" VHS recordings of 'em though.
Indeed. Generic syndicated ILL credits lifted from the 1952 season. TV Land ran the episodes with modified variants of the original opening sequences; a nice touch, but they were already credit crunching by then.

It's my thread so hi-jack away. BTW, I'd bet that Dan Gurney would have liked that AAR Cuda.
