Went ahead and put most of the new groupset on the bike. New Crank, Front/rear Derailleur, Chain, . Its all together but i need to replace the Shifter cables and rear brake cable then its ready to ride. No new pictures yet but im close.

canopus I dont have the ability to send PM's yet (not 50 post in) but im not going to be using the crank anymore. You said you were interested. Let me know if you still are.

I build and sell. Usually keep only three bikes at a time for myself. Been building and boxing all winter long, byt the time the real selling season gets here I'll be moving them all out. 54's, 56's, 58's, 23" Tempos, & some bigger & smaller refinished frames in stock for build-to-orders.

She rides good but i think the wheels are going to need replacing as the spokes are badly corroded.

That yellow looks awesome!!

I am waffling between keeping the original red/yellow fade or go with a lemon yellow w/ black decals. But for now I just have to get funds to get it on the road.

auskip07, You can do worse than getting a set of these if you're staying with the 27" size: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/wheels/630.html . I bought one of their wheelsets for my '95 ST and am pleased.

Brad i was thinking of going with a whole new modern set of wheels i already have the cassette and shifters so it would be a matter of putting all that stuff on and then trying to figure out what to do when i need to change the crank bearing.

auskip07, Crank bearing = bottom bracket? If it's the original BB look for the oldest bike shop in your area. They would most likely have the tools and experiance specifically needed. Generally the fee isn't much and may even be 'free' if you buy a replacement cartridge/sealed BB.

A 700 mm wheelset will open up your tire choices significantly and you may be lucky enough to keep your brakeset.

Brad i took it to the oldest one in the area after keeping the frame for a day they told me they couldnt get to it with out major work and that i would be better off throwing the frame away. LOL. They wernt very nice. The threads after i got it back from the shop were in bad shap. so much that i dont have end caps on the bottom bracket any more. so this might be the down fall of the particular bike.

"so this might be the down fall of the particular bike. --auskip07

Even if mutilated the threads can be chased and the sides of the BB shell faced, not a big deal and certainly not fatal, but a royal PIA simply because of a stubborn BB! If the BB is still useable and you have more than ~5 mm clearance for both the chainring and the crankarms then the slight spreading of the chainstays for a 130 mm hub won't cause a problem, if that's a concern. Anyway, I have to think that somewhere in Atlanta there's a bike shop capable of removing that BB. Good luck because in the short time since I rebuilt my ST I've discovered it's a really good all around bike.
