But seriously, I'm liking all the input on the possible design, but we are all aware that Portland Cyclewear only does like a set amount of fonts, right? Last I checked, you only had so many options to chose from. I'd look at that first. And honestly, is there anyone else who would do a custom wool jersey for such a low minimum? I think woolistic does some, but minimums are high and their stuff is more expensive in general. |

lots of good opinions to ignore here. Thanks guys!

I'd be up for one as well.

I wouldn't ask them to do the typesetting--I think we get a lot more flexibility by having a forum member do the type/design, and giving the vendor vector files built to their specs--all fonts converted to outlines.

One thing I would change is get rid of that underline reminds me too much of little league.

I want something functional and classic looking that doesn't advertise some product, whether real, imagined, or whateverm unless it's something we can all agree on. And I don't see the point of restricting it to this sub-forum. The wonders of wool are widely touted in Commuting, Long Distance, Touring, and so on; why not go for something with broader appeal, provided it has the classic look we want? Brian, may I suggest YET ANOTHER POLL, something like: "what would you want a jersey to say?" I repeat my preference for just www.bikeforums.net. |
I'm in for SS wool, 1/2 zip.
I'd like my opinion ignored, too. "Bleu, blanc, et rouge" from an earlier post! I hope that these don't cost much more than $100... Thanks for starting this thread again! PG |
It's looking like Portland will probably be the place to get them, so if anyone has any issues with that, or Chinese, then feel free to avoid this group buy.
I'll start another poll to gather some more opinions to ignore in a bit. Thanks guys |

Here's a rough concept. I think it could work, though it needs refining:

The Campy shirt really sang out to me. The blue jersey with the red & yellows struck a chord. Here's my idea.

Wow, I actually really like the "C & V" look. Three symbols bold and plain. Not too opinionated on the bikeforums.net part, but I could also live happily without it.
|
I'm not married to the "Bikeforums.net". I don't care about advertising for the forum, so it can easily go away. It is the community we're hanging in though. The idea was akin to a name being embroidered there. Like a subtle nod to the forum.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel no connection to the words classic & vintage spelled out on a jersey. The abbreviation, or geometric designs around the letters C & V, feel right in comparison. |
I like the C & V as a lockup, too--it's got potential.
I'd want to use a really nice script font/hand lettering rather than something from 10001fonts.com or whatever, though. That and taking the time to really refine the lockup will put it over the top and make the jersey look at home amongst a field of true vintage pieces. |
I like both of these designs as well.
I think Robofunc's design would work great on a modern non-wool jersey...and I would be down with a group buy on those as well (BBM?). The C&V simple design works great...I also think it has a real chance for success with the largest group of people. Again, I'm down with whatever...it's just a jersey...commemorating a moment in my "internet life", as it were. |
Anyone have a good Illustrator template for a jersey, or links? The links I've found are for a modern style jersey.

In.

They'll actually do anything that can be cut out of flock for $35 addtl. setup or anything that can be embroidered for $75 addtl. setup. If you sent them a really good file vector file they *might* knock a little off that charge if you ask nicely. |
Oh, and I'm in for a jersey or two, no matter what they end up being or where they're made....I don't care if you import them from Mars.
