That looks to American art deco for cycling jersey. Like the Old Ford vee 8 logo.

This is my contribution. Bikeforums.net only need to be one place. Simple with muted colors in a red, off white, blue theme. If the BF script is on the red background those letters could be white.

Like this.

That would be pretty nice if you can source a wool jersey in the rouge blanc bleu.

THE VIDEO TO GO WITH THE JERSEY

Zaphod Beeblebrox 03-05-11 12:28 PM

all you guys have done a helluva job making it.....now how many of you are actually ordering?

i figured i'd just let this thread go for a while and then start looking into the jerseys :) Seems some of the work has already been done.

Here's my "wet dishrag" contribution: I suggest that future "here's my contribution" postings be backed up by actual research into what is possible, from whom, and what it will cost to achieve the proposal, for a small order (by business standards). Not everything imagined is achievable, especially for a group that doesn't want to spend hundreds for a jersey -- in fact, very little of it is.

Thanks for the wet dish rag. It feels good on our necks cause we're HOT!

With few parameters, you can't expect anything but for the artist to give his/her best. That may be out of the realm of possibility, but it's a start. AFAIK nothing's been decided, just submissions for art on a "custom jersey".

Holiday has alluded to using Oregon Cyclewear but I'm not sure if this has even been decided.

Here are my two submissions using backgrounds that mimic two of Oregon Cyclewear's Jerseys. True colors are TBD, but these will give an idea of what I would like to do if we go with OC shirts. We may be limited to certain colors depending on whether we use embroidery or iron-on processes.

OC's order page has a few stock colors and the black and blue seem to be the best for a logo like these. We can mix & match jersey colors. The red one has a two color stripe that might work too. I'd have to play with the logos a bit more.

BTW, if we are interested in a full custom jersey, it is a 100 unit minimum. A stock jersey with added graphic seems to be the way to go.

At the risk of throwing a bit more fuel onto the fire (which I really don't want to do, btw, because I like most of the recent suggestions and will commit to ordering a C&V wool jersey right this minute) - but I came across a really great resource for jerseys on Flickr this morning. Check it out here.

+1 for these.

I've never ridden in wool, would be interesting to try.

If these aren't hella expensive I could definitely go for one.

Just for fun I dropped my one-liner on Portland, OR Cyclewear's Hawthorne design. Running with bulldogge's suggestion of more subdued bikeforums.net element.

Shame their basic fonts are so limited. Might be able to get a deal on setup for custom font if you promise to send usable vector file format of their preference, which I could provide.

I still haven't fixed the ampersand and the letter connectors yet. Maybe if it's slow at work tomorrow...
I'm not liking the V to i spacing either.

Might have to beef up line weights to get it in flock, probably good to go for embroidery, though.

This, or Lester's other designs. Can I be in on this or do you have to be a member of C and V? Can I wear it riding my Merlin? Or do I have to wear it only riding my 1976 Freschi?

no herding, just watching, wondering how long this thread will go on with no involvement from me :) :innocent:

Depends on the jersey for me, but in, tentatively. Embroidered logo is a must for me, as are buttoned pockets (and chest pockets are a huge plus). Also, RE: shrinkage - are people machine washing and drying their wools? /facepalm.

cranky old road 03-06-11 02:06 PM

I machine wash mine on gentle cycle with no problem but tumble drying is a no-no.

seedsbelize 03-10-11 07:55 PM

How many years can you get out of a wool jersey? Curious.

A lot! I can't count, and I don't wear mine as often as others, but it seems that some lasted me over 20 years. Wool is expensive but usually ends up giving you lots of wear for your money.

I like this design, though, I'd only put one bikeforums.net on it.

Did nothing ever happen with this jersey idea!?
