I believe you're correct, no trains on the weekend. Good central meeting point and a pretty good ice cream joint across the street for the post-ride snack

that's a good point. they've got nice gelato as well

here's a 35 miler leaving from towaco train station. There's exactly 1 big hill. and 1 massive downhill. I can easily chop this down to 25 or 30 if 35 seems too long, but really it's mostly pretty even ground.

Looks like a great ride, I'm excited. I'll have to rethink the bringing the fixed, massive down hill is not much fun when you can't coast! How long is the "massive" down hill run?

about as long as the "massive" uphill climb

click the link in my previous post and see the "Summary" tab. It gives you an elevation graph. It makes it look harder than it is

in truth I've never been on that particular rd with the down hill run to the papate bay....I've got no idea what its like. I just know the graph show that its about 450 ft over 2 miles. and its Taylortown Rd. for anyone who knows the area.

I probably won't be riding my Dawes with its 70 year old drum brakes down that sucker.

x2! And Taylortown Road is a great rolling downhill stretch.

VG - If you have a front brake on the fixie then you should be fine.

Got brakes, but I spin out around 25mph, it's not so fun after the first minute or so.

Thanks, I'll look.
