messy workspace/storage space contest
Post pictures of your messy workspace or storage space. Anything qualifies, but we will ridicule you if you think it's messy and we think it's neat.
I'll submit mine later today or tomorrow.

Here's where I do my wheel work or anything requiring the vise:

I have a disassembled Bendix kickback hub on that workbench, and I'm losing hope of ever finding all of the parts.
The back wheel and bike closet:

The general work area (I probably lose points from having my wrenches lined up):

From the opposite direction:

Wrong thread, Neal! This thread is for messy workspaces.

funny, because I remember in the last workshop photo thread a couple weeks ago, Neal posted a much more pristine view of his workshop! i guess it's all about selective editing, right? Or March has begun to take its toll!

I can't work like that at all. My problem is that even when things are kept organized, I forget where things are... literally, I put something down one monent, and the next moment I have no idea where I put it. So to combat the ensuing frustration that that inevitably generates, I keep parts in small-ish tupperware containers, not organized by part type, but by project. One container might contain a disassembled brake, another might contain a BB and all associated rings/bolts. And so on... If i didn't use a method like that, I'd have no hope whatsoever of putting anything back together (at least not the way it was intended!).
This is what I'm talking about:

However, this photo was during a neat phase. Most of the time the level of entropy is somewhere =between this photo and your bench, Neal!

Organized people are just too lazy to look for things. This is today's mess, chains, cassettes and derailleurs to replace, wheels to re-lace, and something else I'm sure I'll find when I get some of this crap out of the way.

Mine was a mess until this weekend when I did:

I still have all the cleaning/polishing stuff below to go.
I also do "build boxes"...plastic tubs that hold all the parts for a build. Parts go in one color plastic bag when they're dirty, into another color when they're done being cleaned/serviced/etc.
I guess I major fail the messy thing now?

The title implies that there is a work space. My only space is at the bottom of the stairs in the basement and my living room and my significant other has an issue with me making the livingroom a work space (I mean, working in the living room is using it to live, no?).
khatfull - I think you won't have any trouble redeeming your self judging from the mess under the table.

You guys are in trouble on this one - I got four kids and a golden retriever that lives in mine. Pics to come later but go ahead and wave the white flags.

Which leads me to wonder... Tom, what's the prize, for winning this particular contest?

here's one:

the work bench tops all disappeared over the winter including on the 2'x9' partially seen here. Good thing I got those $28 VO fenders. They're being put to good use. But they were a great price.
I think I see some pedals Neal sent me a month or so ago in there too.
