I didn't realize there was hilly country near Austin.

Unfortunately, I've come to associate black cranks and rings with cheap bikes... ruins it for me

That RD is neat looking.

Nice bike, but I think the original version (non black) is much better looking.

I agree I liked the silver drivetrain and tan tires much better

Austin is the beginning of what is called the Texas Hill Country. Austin is in fact very hilly. My neighborhood, Barton Hills, is very hilly and has some extremely steep climbs. I really needed the extra gearing.

I like the bike in both versions!

That's a gorgeous frameset.... I'd take her home pronto.

Folks, I just put 175 miles in three days around Austin/Kerrville during NAHBS.

To say the "Hill Country" has some challenging rides is the understatement of the day.....

Try the loop down from Kerrville to Bandera and back. Most of us would line up to throw compacts or triples on our steeds.

Ride link:

https://alltrails.com/us/texas/bandera/road-biking

Heck, I'd put that triple on there as well, along with an electric motor.

I think the next step will be bar end shifters.

Nice choice.

I have bar ends on my Bruce Gordon and they rock.

Any issues with the Shimano front derailleur?
