Bikes: TRIMMED DOWN THE HERD
My 1994 Marin Eldridge Grade
Just picked this up today for a mere $25. Will "sadly" be added to my steed of mtb's. Keeping up with my Bay Area theme.

Clear coating is done. Repainted the fork yesterday. Discovered some aftermarket stuff when I was cleaning parts. Drilled aluminum jockey wheels and and Onza middle chainring. Looks like the PO was into bikes too.

Nice!
I think that is a '92 as opposed to a '94 though --- I have a '95 myself in a champagne (faux titanium maybe?) color, the 94's I thought were battleship gray -- I seem to recall the black and neon color schemes from 91 and 92
I had an almost irrational affinity for Marin bikes back then, - first real road bike was a tri color neon fade Marin Limited

And it's done. Not too happy with the tune because the alignment of the cogs and rear gears are off. When in small front/small rear the chain is rubbing on the center cog. All good with the other two so I'll just use those two for now until I figure it out in the future. Rear wheel is original Ritchey but front had a black Wolber so I grabbed one silver old school from my stash. Also found a Ritchey tire in my stash, old but if I ever use the bike a lot, I'll switch to another newer pair.

I picked up this Marin Eldridge a couple years ago for my daughter. It set me back $40. She is into vintage road bikes and only rode it once so I sold it. They are very nice bikes. Enjoy yours!

Yeah I love this bike. It's one of the smoothest in my fleet. Thanks and too bad you had to sell your daughter's!

You will prob never get small front and small rear to run without rub, because of the 3 rings up front, you can get away with “cross chaining” on a road bike with 2 rings up front.
Cross chaining will stretch your chain as they are not really designed with sideways movement ability.
On 3 ring set ups you would use the small ring for the 2-3 larger cogs on the rear and then centre ring for the centre 2-3 cogs and big ring for the small rings on the rear.
