Woodrup restore - Original components or Suntour Superbe?

I will soon be restoring a Woodrup frame and am wondering if I should return the original components (Dura-ace and Campy Record) or use NOS Suntour Superbe. Any comments as to the pros and cons of each option?

I am a Suntour fan and if you have the whole group I say use it.

+1. If you plan to ride it, Suntour is hard to beat.

Any of the three, or a clever mix/match, can end up working very well.

Are more interested in restoration or in making a bike that will work well for you?

I figure I can have both with either solution. The RD is Shimano Crane (Became Dura-Ace later) and the rest, except the shifters, appear to be original. If I use Suntour Superbe, then it will be close enough to period correct to suit me. Whichever I don't use is going on my Fuji rebuild as its group.

Period-correct is easy to achieve. Correct factory or correct off-the-peg for a Woodrup might be harder, at least I don't know where to find the build list. Was it pre-80 or later? After the early '80s Ten Speed Drive took over national importation and took a lot of influence in the product.

I had one until not too long ago, and mine ended up a Frankenbike. I hung many different items on her, however. She rode great no matter what.

A friend here in town has a 1984 that he bought from Ten Speed Drive, and he kept it original. It had 27 inch wheels (campy record hubs with Weinmann rims) and Weinmann center pull brakes, long reach. But it's been several years since I've seen it, or him.

Early to mid 70s and not a U.S. import. The previous owner bought it in Bermuda and brought it back when she moved home to Fla.
