schwinn varsity bb shell width

hello everyone, I am converting a '73 Schwinn Varsity to single speed and would like to put a more modern crankset on than the ashtabula. To do this, I need to use the truvativ adapter that converts from american to euro. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the shell width when using that converter, or if it doesn't even matter with an english bottom bracket.

also, would this one make anymore sense to use? https://www.biketoolsetc.com/index.cg...d=YS-82WSINGLE

I'm a mountain bike guy... all this new road stuff isn't quite the same.

Thanks!
