Dunelt "pathracer" conversion surprisingly light
So like many cv'ers I fell in love with the looks of the Pashley Guv'nor a while back and decided to build something like it, but on a budget. I found a neglected black 23" 1968 Dunelt, ordered a pre-built fixed-gear wheelset and a pair of creme Delta Cruisers from Harris. Had my LBS tap out the bottom bracket and put in a cheap bottom bracket and Origin 8 crank. The stem clamp was bent, so I got $20 stem and managed to find a set of old northroads with a standard diameter and a patina to match the rest of the bike. Now I have a head-turning fixed gear.
Spent a little too much, but I just weighed it. 25lbs, including the original chain guard and a fairly heavy vinyl Brooks saddle that saved from my old bike because I happen to love it. Considering all the cheap parts I used, that ain't bad. 3 cheers for English "lightweight" steel.

So, if you don't mind me asking, how much are you in for, totally?

Bike was $100 but I used the wheelset on my fiance's bike. New wheels, tires, sprocket and lockring $240. crank $80, BB, $30, chain $10, bars $5, stem $20. I can't remember what I paid for the guy to retap for the bottom bracket... it wasn't a lot. In any case, I could have bought a brand new mid-range track bike... but then I would have a brand new midrange track bike and who wants that? I'm pretty sure if I took the brake and chain guard off and put on a cheap little lightweight seat it would end up pretty close to the same weight.

How do I measure my 1967 Dunelt frame ?
I just picked up an old 3 speed last night and the frame measures 21" from center of crank to seat post. . .it seems smaller than what I expected for a 21" frame. Should I be measuring something else ?

I did something similar with a Raleigh Sports, though I kept it 3-speed. I was able to get the weight down to about 27 lbs.
