1954 Dunelt Info?

I recently found a 54 (according to the SA hub) on my local craigslist. I probably paid too much for it, but its in pristine condition for being 57 years old. It was a little dirty, slight surface rust and needed some grease / oil. I have about 8 hours clean time into it and it glides like butter. Love this bike a lot! But...cannot find too much info on it. Any Dunelt people here? I know they were bought out by Raleigh. I have a 61 Raleigh Sports and these two side by side are near twins. Any info would be greatly appreciated

lots of pics - https://thecabe.com/vbulletin/album.php?albumid=472

Very nice. That's a pre-Raleigh/TI bike. Dunelt was in Birmingham with other B.C.C. brands, I believe, until Raleigh swallowed them up. The chainguard and rear fender mount are much like Normans from the same time.

Hope I see you riding it around town.

Thanks, gna! I appreciate the info. Do you ride Lake Calhoun? I was just there yesterday with my 61 Raleigh. Maybe we can have a ride sometime. I am there 2-3 days a week.

Bikes: one of each

I used to sail my boat on Calhoun. That was before I got into bikes. That was before I moved to New York.

I don't get over there often--I usually ride to work--but I go on occasion. Perhaps you would be interested in these events:

Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour
ABCE
TC3-SAS

That Dunelt would get a lot of attention at any of them.

I would love to become more involved in local events. Thank you so much for the links. I am browsing through them now.

Great bike! I was going to buy this one myself but the seller said local pickup only! Sadly, I am in Virginia and could not see driving all the way to minn. To pick it up! Guess I could have flown in and cycled back to Virginia? Good luck with it!

Yup, that was me selling it! I never ride this one, I ride my 61 Sports. The guy who bought it came from Chicago all the way to St Paul. Said it took him a little over 7 hours to get here. Came in a Ford 350 towing a trailer where he put it in. Talked for a bit about bikes, showed him my collection, and he was on his way. Now thats some dedication!
