did you find the hub you want?

Used shimano nexus-7 are plentiful in finland!
maybe easier just surfing...

Update 3-4-12:

Did some more work today. Finished the fork, got the brakes on, tires and tubes on the rims, handlebars in place, levers on, and some other odds and ends.

I am having a problem with the freewheel lining up with the chain ring. the chain ring is a lot farther out than the freewheel. do i need some spacers or what? i tried to search but didn't find anything helpful. Hopefully there is an easy solution to this problem. spacers? move the axle in the rear hub? (wouldn't i ned to re-dish the wheel if i did that?) new crank? any help is appreciated, im heading into the LBS tomorrow to get some advice.

you probably just need a shorter bottom bracket.
