A little bit of singlespeed gravelgrinding today.

Deepwater oil drilling rig in my home port. No, they haven't found oil here; we're just a resting and re-fitting spot until they tow the thing up to the arctic to make sure the polar bears won't have to wear white after Labor Day.
Physically impressive structure. The local paper pointed out that at 355 tall, it's three times as high as the tallest building in our town. Anybody wanna do cannonballs off the top deck? http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...n/DSCF0098.jpghttp://www.zoominto.com/zoomapi/ZoomButt.gif |
Took the kids to a nice little park in Ft. Myers, walked down to the nice little pond and spotted this. You Floridians are crazy,

I have to share with you guys the cool bike stand that Alex Moll just made for me.
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pszcjqkjtk.jpg The stand is made from a Maple he’d harvested himself. What a craftsman! http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pstbgmcala.jpg Thanks Alex! |
Looks like it was made for your bike - cuz it was! This one is made of oak, though. Matches your bar tape nicely, eh?
Glad you like it, Matt. It's the least I can do to thank you for schlepping my bike all the way to Cali and back. |
Some abandoned rail tunnels in Ute Pass:

Top notch work. My wife has a deeply concerned look every time I pick up a power tool. :) |
Want.
Wonder if they would like a nice ten speed in trade. :) http://images.craigslist.org/00h0h_3...B2_600x450.jpg |

The light at the end of my dad's driveway was "burned out". When took off the globe, I found this. Fortunately, the residents have moved out.

In Belize last week, getting dropped off on my "Gilligan's Island" by the dive boat.

A real beauty. I read an account one time that said you can take a couple of grams of the Amanita Muscaria and have quite a trip.
You first. ;) |
JM, in the foreground that is an old mill stone grinding wheel.
My family used to live in an old mill house. In the center of the tall basement was a cylindrical foundation, the turning mill wheel on top of that, then a long shaft to the outside water wheel that caught stream water. No derailleurs, though. |

Belize; very nice! That one's on the bucket list. Looks like you didn't pack for an overnighter. What's the deal, surfcasting for a couple hours, and then they come pick you up again? |

My childhood in White Plains was full of Reingold ads, and, every summer, the Miss. Reingold contest! Unusual? Family?
Growing up, people would say, "Rheingold, like the beer, eh?" and misspell it. My father pointed out that that was all right, because people remembered it that way. Now most people haven't heard of Rheingold beer. Oh well. |

They call them Magic Mushrooms here, not like the picture. Sometimes you can see the young people walking through forests picking them.
I think of Psilocybin as magic mushrooms. Just hearsay, of course. ;) |
